Select all squares with street signs, with roads, with vehicles, with a storefront etc. until there are no more left.

Yep, think they went just a little overboard on that routine, or rather, some servers-app distributors choose to capitalize your hit on their page (delay tactics) by multiplying the amount of them before passing.

If you want to pull your hair out try going to Bitcointalk via TOR! I visit maybe 1/3 of how often I used to. Annoying is an understatement.

I wouldn't be so hopeful as to take google at it's word. Anyway, what the question is, is there actually anyone on the planet who has solved one of these things?

I can do it about 20% of the time. But on very rare occasions I have been given endless ones to solve and I've had to revert to refreshing the page and starting again.

Why CAPTCHAs have gotten so difficult

As much as possible, I ignore sites that use CAPTCHAs. Or if it's something that I want to read, I look for a cache. And if absolutely necessary, I have a personal VPN that routes via Tor. That hardly ever gets a CAPTCHA.

Why am I not surprised that Google will use the new reCaptcha v3 to track users.

Just thinking the same thing. The world famous creator of the most highly advanced spider and scrape system who invented it to begin with.

    That is ironic.

Way back in the day, I vaguely recall the idea that Google was just there to help find stuff. And to archive content.

But then someone pointed out that they needed some way to profit. And here we are.

Cloudflare dumps Google's reCAPTCHA, moves to hCaptcha as free ride ends (and something about privacy)
You want this service at Cloudflare's scale? Then maybe you might want to pay for it
