I was generally doing malware testing using new private malware-packs full of zero-days, ransomware, cryptoware, trojans, PUP and others bother fresh and old (a varied pack of several hundred new malwares). I tried all free avs and many paid avs and security solutions and to my surprise nano antivirus free came on top, beating all of them. My focused was on blocking and not getting infected and secondary on cleaning and removal. non of the avs and security solutions even tweaked came close to nano antivirus in all fields.

for example there was a program that on virustotal showed zero detection on all AVs and only under independent separate investigative test showed to be infected with a clever trojan. well non of securities I tested detected and it installed fine until I got the nano antivirus test and when tried to unzip the trojan it was immediately removed and detect as a trojan. also when scanning my private malware pack ( the best of the tested security suites could only detect 10% of the samples) nanao antivirus removed the pack completely detecting everything in it. What a surprise I got. I also had a backup of the malware pack on my pc and I forgot to back it up to usb and as soon as I installed nano antivirus and it asked for scan, it deleted my malware pack. in the future I have to go through the hassle of getting another private malware pack.

So I decided to use nano antivirus from now on as my security as it showed great blocking cleaning and web protection. The good thing that sets the nano antivirus a part is that the difference between free and paid version does not compromise its security and differs in offering tech support and things like that. The security aspect of both version are the same which is great unlike other avs with paid and free version that limit protection in free version.

could you elaborate which other "best of the tested security suites" did you "test" to compare NANOAV?
also just to be clear, are we talking about this product?

What's difference between Quarantine and Backup Storage. EICAR test file went to Backup Storage with "Cure". Why not Quarantine.
BTW ~ Help is not English.
Is there a web threat filter. No annotation for websites nor search results?

Backup storage – The Backup storage window displays all of the items that were detected as malware by the Antivirus. You can perform additional actions on these items present here such as Restore or Remove. you can read more on it.
    FROM: https://www.thepcinsider.com/nano-antivirus-free-2018-review-windows/

Also you cna find the manual in here under manual tab: http://www.nanoav.ru/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=23391&lang=en

Also I think nano av knows that eicar is a test virus and not a real virus, so it send it there so you can choose what to do with it. if you want to remove it or restore it. while there the file is locked and can not do harm as backup storage is part of QUARANTINE

also it has webguard that protects from web infection and it is under systemguard

Hmm, so Background storage does not clean ... just stores?
Does Background storage lock up malware/break malware like Quarantine.
I expected "Cure" to send test file to Quarantine. Just me.
Nano was quiet with AMTSO Phishing test page.

My Nano install is English. Help should be English. Just me. Just saying.
    Thanks

Also be aware that its scan is heavy on system. mine was reading 100% but the pc was very responsive.

well yes and you choose what to do. It is similar HIPS. you know asks you to block and remove or allow. it protects you while you choose what to do. unlike HIPS or whitelisiting apps that you have to decide right on the spot. you can search online or elsewhere for it and if you are sure its safe then restore, otherwise delete it. I questionable malwares go there like EICAR. nano may see it as a malware but it might also be an unknown good software. I think this because of its behavior or IPS guard flagging it and move into storage and not the AV cloud or signature.

well the important thing is your pc is clean and safe and the files in storage are locked waiting for your decision. Thats what is important.

When I last tested Nano a few months ago, I found the same. In my case, CPU use was between 80% to 84%. However, aside from scanning, it seemed very light. I may try it on my main computer which would be a better environment to test it.

I am viewing the webpage in English, but when I click on the "Manuals" tab, and then I open the "User manual", I see Russian text in the manual. Am I clicking in the wrong place, or something? Where do you find the English manual?

Yes, I can. The links don't work, but you can just scroll though the web page to read all 27 pages. Google actually does a decent job of translating this and translation is very readable.

It was the scrolling that did me !! It took a long while to scroll down to it, lots of white spaces but as you say, quite readable.

2 months ago nanoav probably lasted 10 minutes on my VM. no dynamic modules, mediocre sigs
hence i was questioning OPs "testing"

    brand new test of mine:
    3 !!!!! days old samples
    missed 6 from static scan
executed the first executable, VM is encrypted by ransomware
what a revolutionary AV there mate.
