I don't wish to inflate this thread more than necessary, so I'll end with this. Never mind other 250 leftovers, these are the most obvious things I noticed -

    From RCV snapshots.

[EDIT] Replaced image with an identical, but with removed metadata (EXIF info). think about this stuff when you post images.

I was just thinking about a good test of an Uninstaller.
If you find the time, I would love to see the results of uninstalling PC Doctor Version 7.0.
    That once gave me trouble.

isnt office trial part of windows 10? when you look at any Microsoft windows 10 software on DVD, it has office app in the start menu which is office trail. So that means office is deeply em batted into windows itself? I have not yet seen a windows 10 software with no office trial option? Also you know what else. when I uninstalled a software with total uninstall and when you see the green list at the end of all the files removed (on the right panel). I go ahead and do 1 or 2 more uninstall until the right panel is empty and then run the optimized clean feature of total uninstall. try this. run the uninstall a few times to remove all. Also I think among all the uninstaller there that I tested or know of, total uninstall does a better uninstall with the least leftover. Also if you could get your hand on the 6.26 professional or ultimate then that version might be even better in removal then 6.24.

Office is not part of Windows in any way, trial or whichever. Some kind of app is installed to automatically offer Office 365 and to simplify upgrade/installation. If I remember correctly. But I don't know much about it.
But this is irrelevant, whatever was part of the OS was included in the first snapshot.
'A few times" must be specified exactly. This is not what the manual states and should not be part of normal usage. As you can see, I did a 'cleanup' but the result was worse.

This is a simple test and I don't have to document it much. Anyone can try this.
And this just one example, there are way more complicated apps than Office.

well i noticed with total uninstall that when you finish uninstalling a software it sometimes leaves orphaned or traces behind and I always run the uninstall of the same software for one or 2 more times and it removes all leftovers and then I ran the cleaner. this way i found it cleans more each time you run it. which is strange.

    Alright.

Total Uninstall 6.26 trial version (as suggested by NiteRanger in post #76, taken from Majorgeeks) and Office Pro x64.

This is not possible, the right pane is never empty, no matter how many times I uninstall/cleanup Office.
I did this several times, but after you do a 'cleanup' the results in the right pane stay the same/do not change anymore.

Though the process of uninstallation with 6.26 is a bit different, without going into details, I checked everything Total Uninstall possibly offered to delete. Even if it warned me that it may affect other software. There are a little less leftovers (see screenshot), but I did not save the blank documents this time.
The 3 scheduled tasks are still there -
    oooffice.png
I think I did my part - twice.
Now it's on someone else to do whatever is in his powers to fully uninstall Office.

    Cheers.

So, is Total Uninstall still rated the best here or should the crown goes to another uninstaller program?

I just tried Total Uninstaller and I am sold.

I have been wanting to try AGAIN Sticky Password but no matter how much of the program I tried to uninstall every time I installed it it acted like I needed a master password instead of any option to make a new account. Now granted I have a few accounts but the point is now since I used Total Uninstall it cleared my system so much that Sticky Password thought this was a new machine.

Are you referring to Total Uninstaller

    https://www.totaluninstaller.com/

    or Total Uninstall?

I just tried the installation monitoring in Total Uninstall. I have used the product before, but had not used the monitoring. While I'm sure its a good program, I don't like that it uses snapshots rather than actually monitoring changes to the system. Also Install Monitor automatically monitors every program installed, whereas with Total Uninstall you need manually get it to monitor some installs via Explorer's context menu.

If Joe at Mirekusoft can implement the changes I've suggested to Install Monitor, then in my opinion that will be the best uninstaller there is. Also, Install Monitor is cheaper than Total Uninstall.

The latest Revo Uninstaller Pro has a Real-Time Installation Monitor and Geek Uninstaller Pro also has it

    https://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_uninstall_features.html#real-time
    https://geekuninstaller.com/download

so what makes you think Install Monitor is superior than them? In fact, some other uninstallers also has this feature

It would be great if somebody can test Revo Uninstaller Pro, Geek Uninstaller Pro and Install Monitor with their Real-Time Installation Monitor feature turn on and see who can remove the most files/folders/registry entry remnants

Just like Total Uninstaller, they create before and after snapshots. On the other hand, both Install Monitor and Comodo Programs Manager don't use snapshots, but actually monitor what changes an installer makes. In my opinion this is a much better way, as it can take time to create the snapshots and changes to the system unrelated to the program being installed can get tracked too.

There's also some more discussion about snapshots versus monitoring at the following links.
    https://www.mirekusoft.com/improving-uninstallation-part-2
    https://www.mirekusoft.com/the-secrets-of-a-clean-uninstall

To the best of my knowledge, only Comodo Programs Manager and Install Monitor use monitoring.

Can Install Monitor works with my current system with programs already installed or it needs to start with a fresh system and monitor as programs are installed? the website doesn't speak of this

    Thanks

For already installed software all it can do is scan for leftovers, like Revo, IObit Uninstaller, etc. do. To be able to cleanly uninstall software it has to have monitored the installs so it could see what changes were made to the system.

So. does it have a 'Forced Uninstall' for programs already installed and for some reason unable to uninstall?

    Thanks

No it doesn't. For that purpose, IObit or Revo would be a good option, but programs that it has monitored, Install Monitor would be a much better choice.

Agree with NiteRanger...Not sure why there is the suggestion here that Revo works by the "create before and after snapshots" method. I have seen no evidence of that when using the app. And what is more VSGroup state categorically, as follows:

"Revo Uninstaller Pro has a feature that allows monitoring of installation of a program. It detects system changes during that installation and the process is done in real time – simultaneously!"

Let's be careful with the 'facts'...in what is otherwise an very useful & interesting thread. :thumb:

I was wrong. I have a feeling that old versions of Revo did use snapshots, but I could be wrong. However, the monitoring in Revo is not implemented very well and essentially works the same as using snapshots, as it monitors all changes to the system, rather than specifically monitoring changes made by an installer.

    Revo.png

If you look at the screenshot, it appears at the top of the screen when installing software and you need to click on the stop button once completed. Also, you need to either use the install option within Revo, or get it to launch and monitor and instllation via its Explorer context menu. In comparison, with Install Monitor ever installation is automatically silently monitored and no user actions are required.

Actually, I was just mistaken, not lying. I test so much software (including just about every uninstaller there is) that surely I can be forgiven if I get details wrong from time to time. So yes, in theory Revo does monitor installs. But in practice, it works the same as snapshots.

I have just tried to uninstall Office with Mirekusoft's Install Monitor. There are no special things to note, the software is pretty simple (which is good) and has no additional settings (advanced scan etc.) the only thing is that the installation lasted almost half an hour (on i7).
I compared the two after and before RCV snapshots. I could not believe my eyes, look at the lower left angle of the screenshot -

    installmonitor.png
There are mountains of things like these and all other (un)imaginable things. I can post more if needed...

Any other big player not afraid to get in the ring with Office?

[EDIT] To add, it's the latest trial, taken from their site.
