I agree. I replaced Nod32 recently and am very pleased. I have the cloud based option turned off in WD so no constant connections, this was getting to be a big problem with Nod32.

If you turn off cloud connection, you are not going to get much protection for new malware coming on the scene. I guess it doesn't matter that much as long as you make sure to steer clear of the email attack vector.

Thanks for your own feedback on the latest with it. Looks like after all these years they finally have a pretty good handle improving it going forward. I like how they've increased the sensitivity of detecting the slightest abnormality and when that happens, it's already registered in it's database and as long as that list might grow, it filters it's list quick enough to offer a determination.

then rebooted and used Regedit and then the Resplendent Registry free to get out rest of it
    Only few pieces left btw
Not running smart screen filter as use Chrome

    Read that, please: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...icrosoft-the-more-i-feel-like-a-child.409370/
It is about a huge issue with WD.
(EDIT: Talking about the condescending nature of it, that voids you of any say in decisions it's made. It is literally not possible to add a file to exclusions, as long as WD is activated while you try, because; if the file you want to exclude from detection is even just a PUP, while you search for the file in the open-dialog, it has already been detected and thrown in quarantine!)

... I would rather say that WD is what Windows 10 deserves.

Add Windows Defender Browser Protection if you are using Chrome, gives you Windows Defender protection without any slowdowns.

Since doing my clean install to 1809, I automatically reinstalled my Avast Free that im comfortable with, but tempted nowadays to try out Defender on my I7 Laptop and Desktop at least for starters, Just have to take the time to fully remove Avast, setup Defender to my liking (and hopefully good protection) and should be fine. Might maybe work on that tomorrow or the weekend, not sure which day yet

Currently using 2 Intel based systems, Intel I7 7700, and Intel I7 7700-HQ on Laptop system, previously used AMD FX 8310 (hence name for this community when I was gaming on AMD system lol, but now I game on Intel System. Speaking of Gaming does Defender cause any Game play slowdowns, or internet lag or stuff like that

FYI: Windows Defender BP is not the same as SmartScreen. Malwarebytes Beta extension may be better bet.

ConfigureDefender was flagged as malicious because it had an option to disable WD. Andy Ful has released a corrected version (4.0 I think) in GitHub that MS has accepted. Problem eliminated. About NirSoft I cannot comment.

You may but I can't see what benefit would be gained. Chrome already offers its own protection (if enabled) so I would choose either one of the other two. Using Nano Adblocker or uBO in Medium Mode gives you firewall protection for your browser. Highly recommended! More extensions does not equal more security. But we are now off-topic, so post in another thread for more discussion.

As best as I can determine, Chrome's WD Extension is nothing more than the SmartScreen's blacklist protection that is built into IE11 and Edge. It has nothing to do with WD's realtime protection.

I see WD is blocking the Norton installer as malware. I don't know if it's funny or not.

Forget the haters without a life and keep enjoying the simplicity and effectiveness of WD.

A lot of water gone under the brigde since WD began its steady climb to its current top place position.

    Have a nice weekend, everyone.

Is someone playing around with it? Maybe comparing detection rates with unsandboxed WD and such?
