Today I have stumbled on this old school app like Drive Snapshot. Also from Germany and also less than 1 MB. No time to test it, but why not mention it here, maybe someone is interested to try it.

    https://reuschtools.com/

    Some features:
    - backups of UEFI systems can be restored with BIOS systems and vice versa
    - fast restores
    - one click restore
    - restore to different hardware
    - allows to create multiple independent copies of the operating system on one partition
    - a bootable recovery environment can restore your Windows on a blank hard disk
    - optional "FileProtection" feature which protects files from beeing modified by ransomware
    - supports XP to Windows 10

Actually, FileProtection is free and can be downloaded as standalone app:

The reliability of FileProtection is guaranteed as long as the UAC is turned on, or with the use of a non administrative account.

Looks interesting. May have to give it a play

Oops. A little further reading reveals it doesn't save documents, another words doesn't save the whole disk.

    I'll pass

Well, detractions or limitations aside. This app might be flattering to try out just to see what does shake out as useful.

Thanks for sharing what you seem to have run across on there. I used to do the same kind of explorations myself and occasionally land on a nice find here and there.

Hardly doubt it can come anywhere near a DS, but what's the harm and seeing what it can do? Right?

Downloaded yesterday. Gonna give it a spin soon on 8.1.

If it was a full image it would be better then DS, but it doesn't take data so it's marginal at best

    That's true. No comparison period.
However i'm going to fish around with it a bit and see what it can backup or restore.

Definitely not like DS but it has similarities.

It has a boot-menu possibility, thats good. But it is very slow.
    Nothing for me.
