    Hi

I'd really like to have a dark style. The default has a very low contrast between text and background.
Have you ever thought about doing one?

If you allow I can use my time to learn it and make one or better just change an existing one. Easy as changing an #FFFFFF to an #101010 :D

I dislike forums with black background.
Perhaps there could be a choice of the standard background or dark for those who like it.

    There are extensions for this.
For chrome-based browsers Dark Reader is the best.
Didn't experiment much with Firefox-based, but "Dark Background and Light Text" seemed to work fine.

Wilders looks best for me with Dark Reader & forum style Flat_Awesome.

There is already: Go all the way down on any site here, and click "Flat_Awesome". Then you can choose between three mostly white styles.
I don't want to add another extension. Most other websites I visit already allow you to set them to a dark mode.

Come on! I'm doing it for free. And I will only change an existing theme to be dark instead. (vB 3.x - Fluid)
    No worrisome coding! :)

Or just add one. I'm sure there are already several available for this forum software.

    Please, don't!
Please do not mess with vB 3.x - Fluid. I like that one!

That's fine with me, but please hands off vB 3.x - Fluid.

Aditionally of course. And I don't have any files so can do nothing. Better just choose one from somewhere where people upload such themes, anyway.

Ah, so you mean use vB 3.x - Fluid as a template to create a dark version, in addition to the currently available themes. If we keep vB 3.x - Fluid, that would be OK.

Trust someone's upload from somewhere? I'm not so keen on that. Is that a good idea for a security forum? I wouldn't like the idea of the possibility that vulnerabilities could be introduced that way.

I believe the point would be that if they allow one such request, with democratic principles applied, then the next ones will be pink for girls, green for vegans etc. Also, adding new code always potentially exposes more of the attack surface, it's not a matter of trust. Keeping a no-nonsense approach is always the right choice for a security forum.
That being said, I'm also in the black background camp and I find above mentioned Dark Reader very useful as it's one of only 3 extensions I use.

That's why I made this suggestion. Why trust me? There has to be a trustworthy source for CSS for fora,
There are links in the style chooser on the bottom: https://pixelexit.com/products/, https://www.themehouse.com/xenforo/2/themes
So it costs money to get a trustworthy CSS. As was esxpected. It's nice. They're not very expensive.

Maybe we can all get together to finance the 25$ or 35$? Would that be ok? Throw a dollar on a PayPal account? Like paypal.me?
Come on. :D This forums white styles are also pretty old. We could all finance a make-over

In vB 3.x - Fluid I don't see the PixelExit link shown, only the XenForo and ThemeHouse links.

I'm sorry, I agree with Seer/Nick, on this matter.

Let's get one thing straightened out right now!
I'm not collecting any money because Nikopol refuses to use an extension!
    :D:D:D

I'm joking. It would be nice to have a black theme, but I doubt it will ever be added for the reasons mentioned above.

The pixelEdit link is under the style Flat_Awesome. (Mostly)

The sellers probably have enough experience to not **** their clients, I'd say. It's their job to make working themes. Maybe one can even find a black version of vB 3.x - Fluid somewhere. Then there will be no new code.

Why press me to use unknown code if the forum can instead? :D

    PAY FOR IT! :p

Seriously seriously now: Wen can even pay for some debugger guy that works out all the kinks. And then throw in some pen-tester for good measure. Can't be too expensive. Just offer a bounty.

I used to use an extension in chrome that did that. But it was very hard to get things right. But now that we are talking about it, I'm getting really ******* **by this bright screen. :argh:
EDIT: It's really not offering much to fix issues. Lik, I almost can't read this text here in the Edit-pop-up-Editor. It's black on dark grey. And I have to copy and paste a URL in order to whitelist it? What day is it? 01.01.2000?
Unlike Midnight Lizard, which is really great for Chrome, where you could fiddle with everything and save your own templates. I miss it now. AAH it's avaiable for Firefox! YAY

Will do, as soon as I sell the little ***** into slavery.
    Full stop.
It was. The quality of these extensions changes, a year ago I used another (don't remember the name) which is now garbage. So you need to switch them occasionaly. It is a minor pain and I get why you try to avoid them.
SlinkyElegant? (I see now, Lizard has the URL bar black too. it's all black)

It's an extension for both browsers, apparently. Though I still cant read this text very well. In this form under the posts. It has black text. I guess it is defined by Firefoxs theme/CSS.

EDIT: Nope it is defined by the forums theme

EDIT: It's just so damn slow... Well I have to live with it. ):

Wilders with Dark Reader and Flat_Awesome (as mentioned by lofac in post #3). It's actually much sharper on live screen as Alt-PrtScreen blurs it for some reason (It is not the editor I use) -

This is flat awesome enough for me.

Can you read what you write in THIS form here? This one, under the posts? I can, but not with Dark reader or Flat Awesome. I use XenForo right now and desaturate the background to stop the odd blue.

Like letters in your signature? These are smallest and have the lowest contrast. I read them with Dark Reader no prob when they're live (I don't know how else to describe). Though I can read them from my screenshot, it is a bit harder. They are a bit blurred.

Ak OK. I can, but I took couple of moments to notice. I see your screenshot is blurred as well.

That's a bad contrast ratio. Now my eyes hurt
