I been running this for awhile on my win 10 64 bit computer.....Everything seems to work fine except every once in awhile I get a slowdown browsing, it's ratted high on AV test and AV Comparatives.. In spite of john Mcafee dissing it...I know Mcafee works better than when he ran the show.....Only found viruses after I already downloaded them and took out system files when cleaning up.. Is it really as good as the as the reviews say?
I don't trust Mcafee and I don't like it https://www.av-comparatives.org/test-results/ https://www.av-comparatives.org/test-methods/ Fact: My ISP provider gives me for free a Mcafee license I tried a few moths ago and I end up uninstalling it

One big issue that their support wasn't able to resolve for me when I tried the 2017 a few months back is it has this privacy cleaner which is supposed to get rid of tracking cookies, when I run it, it resets all my extensions to their defaults s if I had just installed them. They tried a lot but were so incompetent at fixing it and just gave me a refund. that left a very sour taste in my mouth not sure I wanna give the 2018 version a try unless someone can confirm that they don't have this bug when they run the privacy cleaner.
They were supposed to drop the M***** name & name it Intel something or other. That was a couple years ago.
Well, can't get hacked if your PC doesn't work... McAfee yanks BSoDing Endpoint Security patch https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/08/24/mcafee_blue_screen_of_death/
mcafee is one of the few antivirus software that gave me the least problems. using it back in 2017 . I am really thinking to buy it again as i can find it really cheap . They are improving a lot
I see now they only offer Total Security now the Antivirus only, what the heck? I don't want all the bloat which comes with their suite
If you like McAfee, you can get McAfee LiveSafe (unlimited devices/1yr) for $5.00 at Office Depot. It is $99 at mcafee.com. LiveSafe is their top tier suite.
I don't like it either, dear camelia, but I couldn't care less whether av-comparatives or any other "independent" tester likes it or not. If it runs well on your computer, why not use it?
It's not listed on their website, but you can still get McAfee AntiVirus Plus by googling it. https://home.mcafee.com/store/antivirus-plus
Lol, because the job of AV software isn't to give you the perceived vision of it working. It's to actually, you know, work. You may not like the facts that other vendors, such as Microsoft's Windows Defender, score better than McAfee, but facts don't care about your feelings or perceptions. Another fact is that software vendors, such as those responsible for browsers, continually rag on how badly coded third party antivirus is. Yet another fact is that security researches like Tavis Ormandy love showing the world how flawed "security software" like McAfee truly is, on a regular basis. But hey, do whatever feels good, right?
Basically, don't use McAfee. It stopped being good when they switched to their all-cloud engine. The only times my computers got infected in a "normal" use case was when they were running McAfee (in recent years).
McAfee looks to be in the process of rolling out the next major update in its product line: https://www.businesswire.com/news/h...ee-Consumer-Portfolio-Delivers-Enhanced-Speed One interesting item of note: "McAfee Ransom Guard – Adds another layer of protection on the PC which monitors for suspicious file changes, warns the user when ransomware may be at work and suggests recommended actions for remediation. Additionally, this technology allows McAfee to detect many variants of zero-day ransomware." This has been a struggle in McAfee's past releases will be interested to see if it improve with their ransomware protection.
I think mcafee improved a lot in the last years. step from being a virus to a half-level antivirus. it seems that now intel wants to improve, I hope and they achieve it. It is an iconic company with incredible contempt
McAfee was spin out from Intel in 2017. It is now an independent company with Intel as a minority owner.
I bought a bunch of those LiveSafe keycards from Home Depot for $5 a piece and just added them to my existing license. I now have 2600 days of coverage on all my devices. Guess I won't be using any other security options for a long while now.
