No it's not dead and still works well. But it has been over a year since a product update was released. While it's cloud based and doesn't need program updates to keep working, the lack of updates and the refusal to provide any information regarding when new updates will be released, has been of concern. But, they do find the time to update their Instagram page.

Zemana performed much better at detecting, and removing worms than several other well known products here at Wilders in Cruel Sister's test; at least the ones she tested with anyway. I'm not sure what direction further development of ZAM is taking though.

That's a shame. I have a pro license, but have only ever used it for very occasional on demand scans.

I sent an e-mail to the zemana support page. They said they will post a new update after 2 or 3 months

ZAM lost the security experts who made ZAM what it used to be -- a fine AV. It seems that ZAM has replaced those security experts with marketing personnel.

Except for accepting $$ & starting a forum, ZAM has been in total stasis for many many months. Although other AVs have moved ahead & malware is ever changing, ZAM's engine is moribund. ZAM is "The Walking Dead" -- a zombie app. That they keep their sigs updated (do they really?) is beside the point. An AV that relies primarily on sigs is like a capon rooster -- all it can do is crow and ruffle its feathers.

Zemana is not an antivirus. It is designed to be used alongside an antivirus, just like Malwarebytes (although Malwarebytes do make the dubious claim these days, that it can replace an antivirus). It still has good detection rates, as it does cloud scans using other scanners. The problem with Zemana, is a lack of program updates, which means no bug fixes or new features.

I anticipated that someone would make this point. It's true, of course, but "AV" has become a generally accepted generic name for most any app that seeks to offer protection against the broad spectrum of the various types of malware. "AM" (antimalware) is perhaps a bit more accurate, but "AM" has not yet attained generic status AFAIK. So I suppose ZAM could more accurately be termed as an "AAW" -- "Assistant-Anti-Whatever".

    "Good detection rates..." Hmmm...?

"...scans using other scanners..." Does that mean ZAM is just using the other scanners' sig-based scans, or is ZAM using the other scanners' non-sig-based capabilities as well? I wonder....?

I think it is fair to say that Zemana Antimalware is being on life support since last year, it isnt dead but it is close enough.

Emre TINAZTEPE (Lead Software Architect) and some other key figures left Zemana, so apparently they dont have resources to keep the development.

Zemana Antimalware was much better than its direct competitors with a very fast development life cycle, I miss it ...

So is there a last BEST release that's satisfactory enough and did it go freeware or they charge for what is been described as a "zombie" now. :cautious:

Zemana officials and their website claimed their "Zemana Ultimate" was in the works and they made a big show of it. That was a long time ago. But nothing ever was released.

The current version would be best to use. There's always been a free version, but it is not clear when you visit their website, as they only mention a free trial and the download link on the home page links to the trial version.

This is the link to the free version.

Ok, will do. Appreciate the link to this version. Can try to see if it's near the same as when I run it before some time back.

Current version is 2.74.204.150. They recently informed me that a new version would be released in "the coming months", FWIW.

Time should tell. But then it's been some time already from users holding expectations for this program.

What got me mad was all this talk and hype about their ultimate version and then nothing ever became of it!! That must have been when all the developers pulled out and left.

I guess the MF and Watchdog are all same as Zemana , direct copy the program kernel ,
and they doesn't have any senior engineer ,so the issue Zemana had , they also will had it .
