I installed Avira several time so far, on various PCs.
On boot, the umbrella is open but if I point the mouse on it says "Initializing" for 1-2minutes at least.

Is this a normal behavioro_O I installed it on Win 7 /64 (2 different PCs) and on Win7/32 and the behavior is identical.

    Thanks!

I have had this experience too, it might because Avira is looking for updates?

    "Avira is looking for updates"

Very unlikely; ESET, for example is looking for updates (and updates itself ) in 2-3 secundes.

Look man, if you criticize the time of initializing, it is fine with me, complain to Avira support and that's that. If you ask me 'is it normal', I replied to you, yes it has always been like that for me for as long as I can remember, and it is NOT a problem for me, period.

Just because is not a problem for you this doesn't mean it is normal.

Sometimes I open my PC to check emails , for less than 2 minutes, and when I turn the PC off, Avira is still struggling to "initialize"
Who wants this kind of "normal" behavioro_O?

What could possibly happen for Avira to need 60 sec to initializeo_O?? A whole PC loads an OS in less that that...
No other AV is doing that.

You asked the reason why and I explained to you.
If you are not satisfied with Avira, then go for that speedy AV and there is no reason to continue the complaints here.

I for one have no problem viewing your complaints here since others in the thread other than you have done their fair share in the past. But Avira has their own forum and this isn't it. But Avira employees will post here from time to time.
