It's not equivalent to KIS, but it has a great web filter and good signatures. And it's extremely light, which is a top pro for me.
It lacks a behavior blocker, but if you run OSArmor alongside it, then you are pretty safe

    In my Case:
    1- i dont like AVs
2- i dont like Kaspersky, not because they are russian, i just don't like the sofwtare.
3- SRP like Appguard or anti-exe like NVT ERP allows me to block everything i don't whitelist. i'm in control, i apply my policy, my rules

HMPA like MBAE are pure anti-exploits, SRP/anti-exe are post-exploitation software, which means they don't prevent the exploit itself, they prevent the exploited process to do damages to the system.

for Average Joe it is enough.

AV use default-deny modules (HIPS, BB, etc..) , if not they would be bypassed every minutes.

I also used anti-this and anti-that not too long ago. Now I'm just tired of "tweaking" security apps to make them (more or less) compatible with one another. I removed ALL of them and installed set-and-forget KIS - I'm a happy camper now.

My new security setup.....Linux Mint. I gave up on Windows when I realized that I can run Google Drive and not have any issues. It did take some getting used to and not having all the fun of tweaking my security setup.

    Nice choice :thumb:

I am fond of this set-and-forget setup, even more so when there is a powerful antivirus involved.

    Less is more ...

@Pete8 Total, one hundred percent security is a concept that just doesn't exist, but I think KIS is pretty close to it. If you want to use something in addition to KIS, you can use addons such as uBlock Origin and NoScript. Additionally, it does not hurt to use on-demand scanners for a "second" opinion. However, you should not use any other real-time protection app alongside KIS. And there are another three things you should do regularly: backup, backup, backup.

    Agree.

I use uBlock Origin and on-demand scanners for second opinions. But using something like NoScript is just not possible. You can not surf safe sites with such an addon, nothing works anymore... so finally you decide to deactivate this thing.

I don't use NoScript either; it was just meant to be a suggestion.:)

You may also use uBO in Medium Mode to achieve script blocking where you need it, and is easily changed when there is site breakage. Works as browser firewall when used this way. Very powerful!

Plus having your security layers from different vendors is good practice. If one gets circumvented the others should still protect the system.

Don`t keep all your eggs in the one basket.

Another equally good practice to also keep ready full disk-system images stored externally. Obviously. :)

Also Process Hacker is always running in background.
VirusTotal Uploader is also sometimes used to confirm about suspicious exe's.

Removed AdGuard. Browsing still slows down too much for my liking.

Really, I continue to use it on all my systems and I'm not having an issue. Yes, it is very time consuming to train and new sites cause new training but if you use program like WireShark and see all the behinds the scenes network traffic and scripts everyone is trying to run against your computer you might rethink using NoScript. If you're having issues with the program the author runs his own support site and has always been helpful to update and fix things pretty quickly too. Anyways, that's my feeling on the use of NoScript, I find it an indispensable tool for my use. YMMV

I have found NoScript quite a valuable and formidable addition for exactly this reason. Coupled with some other popular ad-block proggys my surfing has taken a much better turn for the better and sites are accessible enough for me without having to chase after the junk they gum them up with using a Zapper to kick them off the website page too often.

Too much a hassle to me, I rather run my browser sandboxed.

That is always an option on this end too. Sandboxie or Shadow Defender, but never need either much anymore unless we go hunting since the ads I always run into are from News sites or Tech Reviews which are chalked full of in-your-face garbage not a soul is in the least bit interested in for the most part. Life was so much more uncomplicated before video ads and crappy ajax started gumming everything up you land on. Ugh

NoScript is the HIPS of web page, it often breaks something unless you decide to spend 1-2mn setting it. And doing this for every page is deal-breaker for me. Adguard For Windows (the soft ) and a sandbox is all I need. :)
