With Win 10 it's a pretty safe wager that updates for many third party apps will keep those vendors rolling these out every so often.

Thank You @mood for the new update. Tweaking.com Registry BackUp and Reg Compactor are routine tasks on this end of things. This Windows Repair is a HUGE help since Microsoft introduced Tiles & Store since it borks a lot. This tool recovers stability nicely.

New to the forum and in just briefly looking around----glad I found it!! I have had a computer since Commodore 64 and sometimes think I should go back to then as everything is way above my head! Today, I clicked on something in my email that I shouldn't have. It appeared to be a link to LinkedIn.com and said I had 2 messages or something like that. When I clicked on it, I got someone telling me they found a problem with Windows and I was suppose to call a certain number so they could fix it for me. Well, I didn't just fall off a turnip truck so quickly got off the site and went to run Malwarebytes. I soon learned I couldn't get Malwarebytes to run so I suspected they may have infected me somehow. After doing allot of research on the Malwarebytes site I found someone that had success in downloading and running Tweaking.com Windows Repair and just doing a repair of WMI. I did this and now have Malwarebytes working again. My question, now is, should I leave Tweaking.Com Windows repair on my computer or should I delete it? Also, if I leave it on, should I go ahead and run a system backup or make a restore point with that program now since things are working normal? Thanks for any help.

 

You were not infected, that was just an ad. So you have nothing to worry about.

Windows Repair is handy to have if you ever have any issues with Windows and it won't hurt leaving it installed. As for backups, yes, it's a good idea to do a backup and you should do them regularly.

Also, in the future, think twice before clicking on links or attachments in emails.

I'm running it right now on a HP 6000 Pro.
My only computer that I didn't build myself.
For $125 shipped I couldn't resist it.

 

I currently have System Mechanic Pro. I assume this Windows Repair Free/Pro - Version 4.1.1 (09/06/201 could replace it or perhaps be something better than it??

 

They are completely different in how they work. Windows Repair can fix a lot of issues with Windows, but System Mechanic can't. System Mechanic can fix very little, despite the impressive claims made by its publisher. Its main focus is increasing performance, by cleaning junk files and disabling unneeded startup entries and scheduled tasks, etc.
