Ubuntu Linux-based Lubuntu no longer focusing on old hardware after move to LXQt

A "few hundred bucks" might as well be a few million to many individuals and non-profits that rely on recycled older machines to maintain their contacts with the world online. With so many Linux choices there are plenty of other options to change to but IMO this is a short sighted 'development' on behalf of Lubuntu. By all means publish a different reason for this change instead of showing your ignorance that assumes all Lubuntu users are employed with surplus disposable income.

 

Nobody is forcing them to upgrade to newer system version.

 

Xfce can run fine on very old hardware.
Besides, some programs are OS agnostic, like the browser, and they'll put a strain on weaker machines.

 

Ditto about XFCE.

 

And why are people so angry at Microsoft for ditching Pentium iii support?
