Ummmm. Does anybody have any clues as why W7 (Windows host process (Rundll32)) should in the last few days start phoning home from port 49234 to 13.66.59.253:80 ? I've checked, and it is indeed a M$ address.

I'm blocking temporarily, but M$ is notorious for not telling customers what's happening, and this may be Something Important.

TintWall will replace your policy by importing the rules, not by adding them. If you enable Secure Profile, then you will have also protection against importing rules. Secure Rules protects against newly added rules, one by one. The news is that I'm preparing a new version of WFC which will come out soon. I am still the only one that touches the WFC code, which is good. More details, when this new version will be released.
You can revert to Windows Firewall default rules within WFC. Uninstalling WFC is useless. Just restore the WFC recommended rules. IF you still have trouble connecting between your machines, check the Connections Log when the connection is blocked and see what you still have to allow.
Important for who? For Microsoft. Just block the process, or even better, add it in the notifications exceptions list and don't even bother with a block rule. If you use Medium Filtering, then it is by default blocked unless there is a rule to allow it.

Yep! Going to BiniSoft to download the .exe and save it, just in case.

Thought this bit of the new Binisoft/Malwarebytes front page worrying - my emphasis:

"And not to worry—we will maintain, support, and keep Binisoft products free for everyone in the short term."

As the WFC developer, I confirm that WFC is not dead. A new version of WFC is already ready and will be published soon. I am still the only developer of WFC and the next WFC version will still be WFC, not a different product, not a rebranded product.

You were not attentive when reading the forum, and missed the latest news from the developer on the previous page.
But even the current version is alive by 101%! :)

Mad respect Alexandrud, I might egg on this topic about Malwarebytes a bit, they are a company that wants to make money and get their fingers into everything after all, and they have become bloated and their quality down in products over the years IMO, then there are the many example where companies buyout something, and it turns to crap (CCleaner)... So I'm always going to be cynical about these sort of things, because companies aren't charities.

But you've always been one of the "guys" here, who was just an indie dev (with no ulterior motives as far as I can tell) who has a hatred of MS grubby fingers like most should. So until proven otherwise mad respect.

How soon? Like today :p, that would be lovely just because I plan to do a image backup and clone everything later today, and having an up to date WFC would go along with this great.

I still don't get it, so was this a glitch or not? I assumed that Secure Rules blocked other apps from messing around with Win Firewall rules. So I'm still not sure why TinyWall was able to wipe out User Created Rules from WFC. It also seems that WFC automatically switched from Medium to Low filtering. I do believe that netsh.exe was involved. But anyway, I'm concerned that malware can do the same, perhaps the approach of SimpleWall is better?

I disappoint you, this is a 100% user error. If the Secure Rules or Secure Profile is enabled in WFC, the rules are not replaced, TinyWall Service does not start, TinyWall Firewall does not work.
If these options are disabled or the wfcs.exe Service is stopped, TinyWall silently, without warning, deletes all Windows Firewall (=WFC) rules and writes its own rules.
Resume: WFC is 100% defending its rules. TinyWall or SimpleWall are much inferior to it.
You can believe it - checked by electronics! :)

@alexandrud: I'd like to thank you for all your hard work and respect for the users of WFC. You have even updated a version just for a little problem I had. I sincerely wish you the best and hope the buyout is a good thing for you. I hope you're rich rich rich! Best wishes!

It is ready, it has to be approved. I am still waiting for an answer about digitally signing it.

Very cool! Glad it will finally be digitally signed... any chance of a early changelog to tide us over? Only curious.

    Okay, some guesses then...
    a) Goes open source. (doubtful, Malwarebytes payed money for it.)
    b) Goes freeware.
    c) An almost 1:1 copy of WFC gets released but is now called MFC. (Guess what the "M" stand for.)

On a side note, I realize you can't talk about what you are doing over at Malwarebytes because of competitors, etc., etc. but when are we going to see something from them that has had your hands into the mix? I'm assuming some kind of firewall will eventually come out since you're the "firewall guy" they hired. We talking 2-3 months?

Wait a minute, I now see that Alexandru mentioned Secure Profiles, is this some kind of new option and where can I find this? Because I really don't see what I did wrong, I simply installed TinyWall and after I uninstalled all User Created Rules were wiped out.

Cool, but will it also be integrated with MBAM?
