No such file :). Anyway, I guess I'll just uninstall.

The readme.txt file is included in the MiniToolShadowMakerPro20-db37su.zip file you download from giveaway of the day.

As i wrote before, EaseUs can do that. So can Macrium reflect and almost every other backupsoftware out there. You backup C: partition and save it to D: partition on the SAME disk, and you do it the other way around when you restore. Nothing special about it.

I will uninstall but may be back when you have implemented this feature. Good luck.

It may be possible to do this, but it is incredible foolish. I've never seen a disk fail where one partition was lost and the other wasn't. Putting image files on the same physical disk in another partition is just asking for trouble.

Just let me suggest that you might want to consider backing up to two different externals instead of a different partition on the same HD and 1 external. I could easily imagine the HD failing and having 1 external fail. (I've had it happen to me!)

Hi, you may do this, but the program default backups MBR and Track 0, if you want to restore it to the copy that was saved on, you may just uncheck MBR and Track 0 before restoring. But the developer did not advice to restore to the same partition or HD, it's for security consideration. You may just check out the screenshot as shown. Thank you!

Backup is handy, useful not only in case of disk failure, but also when somebody unwisely do something in OS causing it to misbehave or software error or a lot of other things. It's probably most useful for people often tinkering with their OS, software and data a lot.
Of course it is important to have another backup on external storage or even better off-site, but I don't find backup copy on the same disk (other partition) useless.

I would like to be able to run multiple backups tasks, one after the other. I have two drives in my laptop I want to backup. I don't want to have to manually start the second backup task, when the first one completes. I want to be able to run both tasks overnight.

After I installed the Pro Version, it could not find my backup which I made on my external disk. After messing with it a couple hours, I gave up and uninstalled. Thanks for the offer but I think I will stick with just Macrium and Aomei for now. They work well and should be sufficient. Good luck!

Hi, the reinstall may have deleted the backup from the list, but you can still get it back by just Add Backup in the Manage, as shown in the screenshot. Thank you!

It's not recommended to backup or restore to the same HD or partition, just IN CASE.

    Hi V3nuo

I took another run at the latest beta. Install and setup was a breeze. Did a backup and an incremental. Then I made the recovery media. That was okay but marginal. I am on Win 7 so it automatically made a WinPE V3 for my machine. I really need V5. Macrium gives the choice. I can use v3, but it takes a 2nd reboot. Then I started a restore. HORRIBLE. After a half an hour it was only 15 minutes into the restore. I aborted and used IFW to restore. Took 22 minutes which is what I expected. Problem could be the winpe v3 I don't know.

In it's current form I am afraid it's unusable to me. Looking forward to a fix.

    Pete

    Hello
I don't have much experience with Windows software for backup. Is it normal that ShadowMaker removed restore point when it created backup? Does other backup software do the same?

Update: After educating myself, I now have MiniTool ShadowMaker Pro 2.0 running fine on
my pc. Sometimes I seem to make problems for myself by not reading all the tutorials and instructions - not a good practice, I know, but I am a little impatient. Thanks for all the posts in here.

Appreciate this suggestion. It's usually those times you least expect when you need a secondary backup system, storage, what have you just in case.

    Good advice.
