I got this today as a optional update for win7. It looks like a offline installer for people that need it. I don't need it, so i guess i can hide this KB4054530.. I also got a important .net framework that i plan to install kb4340556.

Although the knowledge base page says KB4054530 is the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2 "offline installer" - it is not.
KB4054530 is a (so called recommended) update offering the new .NET Framework 4.7.2 through Windows Update - not an offline installer.
Microsoft seems to be just too lazy to offer a correct knowledge base page for it.

I installed KB4054530, Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7.2, without issues.
Also I installed the KB4340556 update for .NET Framework, and the July 10, KB4338818 Monthly Rollup, all for Windows 7, all without any issues.

It does not look like you want to wait 3 weeks until Woody gives you the ok to install the July updates..lmao

I don't like waiting to install security updates. And when I'm installing security updates, sometimes I don't wait to install an update like the new .NET Framework, either.
I have system images, in case something might be wrong with any update.

That's the best way to do it. I usually update and then make a new image each month. If there's a problem, I just roll back to the previous image.. Easy.. Simple. Why wait for weeks when you will never know how an update will effect your own machine till you try it. :)

I hid update KB2952664 that was shown as Important. I installed the rest - Windows 7 Cumulative, .NET and Office 2010 with no noticeable problems.

Yes, that's what I do, too. It easy to make monthly images. (And rather foolish not to).
Woody's suggestion to wait may be an advisable option for those lacking the skills to use system imaging.

I did too. I forgot to mention, because it's obvious to me, to hide any new KB2952664 offers.

Just a PS: I also installed the language package KB4054529 for it (but I don't run the English version of Windows).

Microsoft now sending out Microsoft Security Essentials definitions KB2310138 as recommended, whereas they used to always be optional. I noticed the change 7/7/2018. Wonder why.

I just ran WU for the first time since tuesday, and noticed that MS pulled my Win 7 july monthly rollup and .net also that i think was there under the important updates. Only the MSRT 830 is here now. In optional i have a preview monthly rollup and a preview rollup .net 4.71, and .net 4.72 kb4054530.

That seems similar to what user Microfix reported in post #203355 at AskWoody:
"On W7 Pro x64 I had KB4338818 and KB 4340556 both hidden in WU, decided to restore hidden and refresh WU..
lo and behold, no patches for this month"

Perhaps it is related to this know issue, that Susan Bradley mentioned:
"After installing this update, some devices running network monitoring workloads may receive the 0xD1 Stop error because of a race condition.
Currently, there is no workaround for this issue.
Microsoft is working on a resolution and estimates a solution will be available mid-July."

Mid-July is in only a couple of days. Perhaps Microsoft will re-offer the July updates in a couple of days?

I noticed the same on the W7/64 systems that I look after. Monthly rollups have been withdrawn. MS communications have deteriorated beyond acceptable. As users we need to know who the vendor is that has the NIC problem. Microsoft should name them and stop covering up their identity. It is probably one of their precious business partners (Intelo_O). It appears that this relationship is worth more to MS than their relationship with their paying customers and home users. Consider that the majority of their clients are still on W7/64 (Enterprise) and because of this fiasco - since March 2018 - patches are being delayed - so much for security.

I can't get to askwoody.com now because of this .... There is a problem with this website’s security certificate.

The security certificate presented by this website has expired or is not yet valid.

It's doing the same for me. But it's not a website that I usually ever visit.

It seems to be taking more than a simple couple of hours.
