Block Windows 10 Updates with StopUpdates10 April 06, 2018 https://www.ghacks.net/2018/04/06/block-windows-10-updates-with-stopupdates10/
Thanks. Hate to have to use this on some units but if you don't they stream and suck the life out of precious bandwidth which is in very short supply for some users in rural areas especially and caps ISP's put on in/out traffic. Sure helps to shut up their nonstop data flow either way
Like mentioned and griped about before. Hate having to snuff down with apps like this (it's good work BTW) but background activity etc is annoying and since I use filechangealarm on every windows system, by golly Windows 10 is by far and away the noisiest O/S yet. StopUpdate10 affords a little peace n quiet and as far as i'm concerned will probably extend the life of the CPU/system as a whole
A question, since I don't use 10, but may be I'll begin to use it: it's possible to find and download monthly security updates and to install manually ? ( As we can do with 7 and 8 ).
Does this allow & stop ALL updates (ready to be downloaded)? ...or does it allow & stop SELECTED updates?
Yes, downloads can be manually downloaded (via Microsoft Update Catalog website) and installed on Windows 10.
But not in a discretionary way (can't select which updates to download/install and which to ignore/hide)!
Thanks for the tip. However, it doesn't seem to be currently maintained - are there any known issues with it?
Well, there is not really anything to maintain, Windows Updates did not change for years. WUMT does not even connect to the internet, svchost.exe does. The only bug is, that it shows the incorrect size, sort of, it shows the size of all updates on the server (I guess, UUP files). It shows 85,93 GB for the latest one. Not that it matters that much. Windows Update shows 600MB for the latest one, but it will download only 200MB, if you had previously released updates installed.
