This for a long time used to be my best browser, lightning quick and dependable. Somehow i drifted over to a browser which before i always refused to even download, FF, which proved it's extensions/add-ons against ads and a multitude of other drag-downs was in my best interest.

However lately i have bounced back n forth from FF to Chrome (both portable) and even more recently Vilvaldi (for obvious reasons) but do you guys/gals have an opinion where Opera stands today and it's newest releases compared to those others? Not looking to read pits against this or that, just basic speed performance and security results Opera is improved with.

    Thanks

Yes it annoyed me also, but I somehow got rid of it. But you can't disable it in the speed dial screen.

Opera is pretty good when it comes to speed, but Vivaldi has got even more options and is just as fast. The problem with Vivaldi is the constant background activity related to the multi-process feature. You get the same with Chrome and Opera, but for some reason it's the worst in Vivaldi. Another question is: can we trust Opera now that it's owned by a Chinese company.

Alright @Rasheed187, thanks for your own opinion on those.

Looks like for the time being i'll just do musical chairs routine and alternate between browsers until one of them settles in as the most secure and comfortable with best performance that can be expected.

Correct, I just hate all of the phoning home to Google that you get to see with all Chromium based browsers.

To me the frustrating thing is that because of lack of certain features I still haven't been able to make the switch to Vivaldi or the new Firefox Quantum, I'm still running Firefox 52 with the slow browser engine! No wonder that I hate those Google and Mozilla guys. I appreciate the work they have done on the engine, but what about resource usage and the browser interface? :thumbd:
