Nope, and especially since v6 is actually in private beta testing.

v4 is abandonned, v5 is the current version (which is mechanically v4).

v6 should have a "consumer" version since it is what the Japanese owners of Appguard wants.

 

Ok I didnt ask if its abandoned, I am curious of the technical differences, removed/added features etc.

4.x was already good for consumers, so I am very curious why it got split into two versions, when the new owner supposedly wants a consumer version.

So if I understand right?

4.x was suitable for consumers and mechanically v5, but yet got abandoned.
v5 mechanically same as v4 but split into enterprise and consumer versions (What are differences?) and even tho the new owner wants consumers he stopped sales of consumer version?
v6 is coming, is the consumer version as powerful in terms of control of features etc. as v4?

All the above makes little sense to me.

Usually market segregation is achieved by crippling the consumer version, so either the enterprise version has new enhancement or the consumer version is dumbed down. Although I will admit there is very little chance of me buying this for any non commercial devices the price is insane, for business use its reasonable tho.

technically v5 is v4 with a different pricing/licensing.

AG consumer was called "Personal", to be more precise:

• AppGuard Personal has not been officially discontinued
• AppGuard Personal sales via the appguard.us website have been suspended
• The suspension of AppGuard Personal sales is for the foreseeable future
• Existing AppGuard Personal license subscribers can renew their license for the forseeable future.

At the present day there is only v5 Business and Enterprise version. Home users never had access to the Enterprise version.
Before it was Personal, Business and Enterprise; Businesses offered Phone support in addition of the Personal's mail-only support; mechanically they were the same.

For the consumer (non-commercial, home user) the available product is AppGuard v5 Business.
The purpose of the sales suspension was to devote maximum company resources possible to the Enterprise sector at this time. That's the simple reason.

Since the new ownership, nothing is set yet with the prices/licensing until v6 is released.

 

If you have any idea, will v6 come this year or next?

As stable as the v5, honestly AG and other SRP are usually stable software unlike HIPS or AVs. That is one reason i use them as main protection.

 

I used Appguard and the app itself is not hard like I imagined. The app itself was easy to learn. Hard part maybe learning about Windows processes and what they do, what are vulnerable processes and what to put on user space and sacrificing usability for tightening your security. This is pretty impressive app. Now I get why you guys love it so much. I'd buy it if I wasn't such a cheapskate

Use version 5 for home, do you see a need to upgrade to "solo" or what-ever the new name is?

my post was a reply to this post by guest on another thread before it was moved here. and in that post, guest refers to it as an end user product as well. i tried so hard but couldn't think of any other end user product that requires one to send an email just to find out the price.

In fact, nothing much to explain, i guess you apply, they look at it, then decide if you are worthy.
