It's supplying convenience, and for the majority of people, simple convenience trumps privacy or security.
This is what enclosed front porches are for. Anyone granting access inside their home to strangers, especially if not home themselves is just completely foolish.

It all comes down to when only drones do deliveries. It will open your front door on its final approach and crash through your picture window barely missing killing your cat. Place the package in the living room, then lock the front door as it gains altitude and returns to the mother-ship.
