@guest has Webroot added the ability to exclude folders/files from realtime or manual scanning?

 

File, yes (you browse to it and set it to "allow"); folders, no.

 

I've searched for it and there are requests but Webroot reply was that this makes it safer for users.. How is that going to help me? it will be an option exactly like the option they provide to disable or even close the whole protection. Very weird logic from them in my opinion...

As a software developers, I cannot stand being altered to allow/disable executables on each successful compilation.
I like their product, and wish they would listen to their users and make this one thing possible.

Does the lack of this option give you any trouble?

 

It is the same reason since day one.

Not really, since WSA isn't my main protection, i use it to replace sluggish Windows Defender.

 

But how would one get rid of Windows Defender?

If you install any other antivirus, Windows Defender is automatically disabled.

 

If you are using a third party antivirus, most of them I understand disable Widows defender. If thats not happening in your computer or you dont use an antivirus, read the tutorial below that explains how to turn off Windows defender for good.

If your W10 is Pro, you can turn WD off via Group policy, look at Option 1. In my case, my Windows 10 is the Home version and since I dont use AV, I used Option 2. Works good.

Very poor behaviour – everything you aren’t allowed to talk about on these forums.

1650 on Cinebench, zero processor use on idle. Security load is like leaving a brick on the back of truck.

Still chugging along with my siggy below. Some are On-Demand Only like Sandboxie + Shadow Defender and others Real-Time w/ bare minimum energy (CPU/Memory) usage and formidable against whatever would try to enter.

Ever since I ditched AV's for the absolute final time forever, about two years ago, Qihoo 360 which ran for months then let through a ransomware, I swore those fake AV's off permanently and implement ONLY third-party creations.

I've let loose the worse of the worse locally and they stop dead in their tracks and are instantly terminated without any AV's.

Proof positive that inventive and mostly signatureless/cloudless third party defensive measures are the absolute iron curtain for my PC's.

Finally settled on a Linux distro: Kubuntu. I had ignored KDE for a while as I was put off by the transition from KDE 3 to 4 a few years ago. I see that with Plasma 5 they have really sorted things out.

 

Yes, yes, yes. Kubuntu and MX 17 are my two go-to distros of choice these days. I think both are just superb.
