Just downloaded the Media Creation Tool 1803 and created the ISO, used Rufus to write to thumb drive etc, installed 1803 and all seems well so far. No issues seen yet. Looks good. I wanted a clean install rather than an upgrade from 1709 because this usually works best for me. Anyway, so far, so good...

Not sure but you can make an official ISO now.

There's no need to uninstall your AV etc before the upgrade to 1803 is there?

There shouldn't be. If the upgrade fails, do a clean boot - disabling all startup items and non Microsoft services. If it still fails, uninstall your antivirus and try again.

No problem here with the 1803 update. It gave me 3.4 GB more Free Space in the C: drive than before I upgraded. (after cleaning up the new Win10)

I just upgraded one of my computers from build 17133.1 of 1803 to build 17134.1, via Windows Update, with no problems.

Hi Brian, I am going to gain about 9 GB after removing Windows.old :). The update took about 17GB of space in my W10, but when I cleanup in a couple of days, according to this, I ll be getting back about 26.3. Not bad.

You all probably know but if you disable Fast start, the upgrade enables it back. It also disables System restore. So, I reenabled SR and disabled Fast start.

I use Windows photo viewer in W10. A nice surprise was to find that with this update the option to make it my default photo viewer was there already and there was no need to bring it back using the registry workaround. I ll keep playing with the upgrade and see what I find, but so far all is looking well.

If I was using an AV, I would uninstall it and reinstall it afterward.

    Bo,

Please let us know the final number. I've found the Microsoft estimate is always too generous.

:( Not looking good on the first machine I attempted. First go failed, second go had restarted a couple of times and looked like it was upgrading then BSOD. Now I've got "Please wait" with the spinning dots. :(

The difference in numbers is huge. I ll be happy just to gain back what the update took. The upgrade is looking well, I ll probably do the cleanup tomorrow and let you know.

Nope. It started to restore the previous version of Windows, so I've booted to Macrium Reflect recovery disk...

If you'd let it run, ot would have restored your system to how it was before the failed upgrade.

Anyway, I suggest you do a clean boot and then try the upgrade again.

Yeah, I know, but I'd rather a clean start and it is only an image from Sunday night. I've only got to update Firefox again.

This time I'll reset changes made by SysHardner, uninstall OSA and Blackfog Privacy.

With big updates like this everyone seems to have different experiences. Some cannot install with an AV installed, some cannot do an upgrade only a clean install, and some unlucky folks just get BSOD or the system reverts to previous install right at the end.

I was lucky, installed 1803 through Win Updates with my AV (Emsisoft) installed.

It's running smooth at the moment.

I've not had any problems doing the updates before. The only problem I had last time was the dreaded Start Menu bug.

If I continue to have issues I'll probably clean install but I didn't really feel like doing that this time.

I downloaded and installed 1803 on our 3 notebooks today. I got it just by running Windows Update manually. Interestingly, Windows Updates had already just checked for updates automatically (as in 5mins before) and reported no new updates, yet when I ran a check manually there it was... Same thing on the other two as well.

No problems with installing though, it went smoothly on all three. Haven't struck any issues so far *fingers crossed*

Went in, attached, and running as well as can be expected. No issues to rattle me yet and I really hope not to find any.
