There are other issues with ver. 11.1.42 besides what I posted in the Eset forum about LiveGrid.

Appears most of the on-demand scan types are borked in some fashion or the other for a number of users of that release.

Peter Randziak (from Eset) just posted in the following thread at the Eset forum:
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/15226-eset-1101599-does-not-update-on-some-systems/
    quoting:
"The reason why v11.1.42 installers were pulled down was, that we have identified an issue with migration of some of the non-default settings when upgrading from v11.0 via uPCU. Other types of upgrade, such as installation via Live Installer, offline installer or PCU were not affected, as later investigation revealed. In order to mitigate impact on users, we decided to temporary pull down 11.1.42 until the issue is addressed on the product side. We released hotfix module update distributed alongside standard Detection engine updates to mitigate the issue for users, who already upgraded to 11.1.42.0 so they do not need to downgrade."

    Version 11.1.54.0

    Changelog:
https://www.eset.com/int/home/internet-security/download/ (look at advanced download option)

    Version 11.1.54.0
Changed: Initial Scan scans all local drives
Fixed: GUI does not start when user logs off and on
Fixed: GUI constantly displays single file Context scans as “In-progress”
Fixed: Real-time file system protection does not run automatically after temporary pause
Fixed: Unable to lock decrypted virtual drive or USB
Fixed: JAWS Log filtering window does not read properly
Fixed: Various internal and localization bugs

I just got it automatically offered. Reboot required as usual.

At the moment I don't see it mentioned at the Eset forum https://forum.eset.com/ or at the News site https://support.eset.com/news/
I guess that will come later.

I also upgraded to 11.1.54 on two W10 X64 systems. Happy to report that (so far) normal operation continues.

    Hello,

ESET Windows home products version 11.1.54 have been released

Note: Since version 11.1.42 was pulled shortly after release, you may be upgrading from an earlier version, so the changes in version 11.1.42 will also reflect in version 11.1.54 depending on what version you are upgrading from.
ESET Windows home products version 11.1.42 have been released

I hope that this will help to clarify things for some...

    Thanks Kent. Excellent post!

    =====

    PS:
In the meanwhile I noticed that Marcos posted about the new version at the Eset forum:
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/15335-eset-windows-home-products-version-11154-have-been-released/
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/15334-eset-windows-home-products-version-11154-have-been-released/

    PS:

    1.
I noticed that the HIPS module is still at version 1315. According to Marcos an error will be fixed in HIPS module version 1316.
    See https://forum.eset.com/topic/15143-update-11142-event-error-scregsetvalueexw/

    2.
A certain scan issue seems to be fixed.
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/15239-unable-to-do-a-manual-computer-scan/
This must be the fix in 11.1.54.0 : "Fixed: GUI constantly displays single file Context scans as “In-progress”".

    3.
There seems to be an issue with SPAM filter.
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/15242-error-message-from-spam-filter/
About 4 hours ago Marcos posted that it will be fixed in the next version of the Configuration Engine module soon.
(Why it is the Configuration module and not the SPAM module, I don't know).

Reply from Marcos several hours ago in that thread:
"Please refer to my post above. The new version has absolutely nothing to do with the event in question and will be addressed in HIPS module 1316+. Currently module 1317 is available on pre-release update servers."

upgrade to 2018 if your signature is accurate, there has been some nice performance improvements
other than that, why are you trying to fix something that aint broken?

Slightly off topic (sorry about that):
I'm having currently problems to get to (for example):

    https://support.eset.com
    https://support.eset.com/kb6564/
    https://support.eset.com/news/

It is taken me long time to get there, and often just get blanc pages.
Is it just me, my provider, or ...? Do others have similar problems?
    Thanks in advance.

    EDIT:
OK, while composing the post, I tried again and got now a message saying something like:
    ESET Knowledgebase
We're performing planned maintenance, but we'll be back with you soon

    So patience for now.

    Thanks Phoenix.
From my end it looks like the maintenance they're doing is not over yet... I guess we have to be more patient.

There were issues while performing KB maintenance earlier today. In the course of the maintenance, a backup content was served so basically users shouldn't notice any issues, or intermittent ones only. Now the system is fully up and running again. Next time feel free to make a post in our official forum at https://forum.eset.com where you could get an answer in timely fashion.

I joined ESET's support forum today. Had to assemble a dadgummed jigsaw puzzle to get registered (seriously?). Sent in the verification email. All that folderol... then I pressed the button to start a topic & was greeted by the statement that what I wrote would not be used until approved by a moderator. Hmmm. So I went ahead & spent several minutes carefully initiating & writing a topic, then keyed "Submit Topic" which returned a message to the effect that "Cannot find the object you are searching for." Immediately my writing disappeared and I was ejected back to my Firefox home page.

To me, that forum assumes you are either a troublemaker or an idiot from the get-go. All I wrote in my zapped topic was to ask if PrivateFW's HIPS might best be turned off before installing a trial copy of NOD32.

Of course I could have asked that question right here, but I did it in their forum to test the waters as to "friendly support." Answer seems: Not much.

I used to run PFW and NOD32 together. It was not a problem.
I cannot remember if I turned off the HIPS in PFW before installing. It might be chatty if you don't - just doing its job though.

The Eset forum has been getting "bombarded" with trolls. Most appear to be of Microsoft origin; we all know who those are ………. Anyway, they are finally "tightening up" both their registration procedures and posting monitoring activity.

I am testing the Internet Security version and so far so good, very light and I didnt find any annoying bugs until the moment.

For better protection I did change the HIPS to Smart Mode, created some rules to mitigate ransomware, changed the firewall to interactive mode and blocked SMB protocol.

The firewall IDS options are a little overwhelming for me at the moment, do you guys have any more tweaks or recommended settings?
