    The vendors have so good products these days that it doesn't make any practical difference what you choose in terms of anti-malware capabilites. These tests are becoming more and more irrelevant.

    Especially youtube testors...How is downloading over 1000 pieces of malware then turning on protection simulate real world conditions?

    I assume you meant 'turning off protection'?

    Probably to test them against zero-day malware. And signature detection can get in the way of that.

    Yep. Most products work reasonably well and all of them can fail. Use the one you like best or that causes the least amount of trouble for the PC you install it on.

    how does having a car crash into a wall to determine safety rating of the car simulate real world conditions?
    an AV shouldn't be "immy minnie miny mo" and pick what it detects...
