WS.Reputation.1 = Low reputation issue https://www.symantec.com/security_response/writeup.jsp?docid=2010-051308-1854-99 I don't know which has the worst reputation, Norton or PrivaZer... (joke) I'm sorry @Krusty but I contacted so many times Norton to get rid of this alert on previous releases of PrivaZer that I don't feel like contacting them once more.
That's cool, I have already submitted the false positive. I normally disable Auto-Protect before updating PrivaZer but it is greyed out on my machines now for some reason, possibly because of other new software I have installed.
I just ran a deep scan using Recuva just after "cleaning" my "d drive" and it listed multiple pages of files that were not recoverable... but their file names were clearly readable. Why is that? I want to see former file names eradicated. Why isn't that happening?
I know about Google's B.S. all too well. I'm glad to see you're onto it too. That should help write a better program. Once you know all the little bugs and tracking ware they install, it should be easier to clean those little repositories out.
Hello @Telos, shloud not. Make sure you cleaned the MFT with PrivaZer and the free space of your D: Running a deep scan in Recuva, make it scan the entire drive (free space + occupied space), so that it recovers all files even those still existing on your drive. Make sure that the revoverable files are not existing files. Send a screenshot of Recuva findings (here or at support@privazer.com)
It's like the better the manufactures roll out performance enhancing PC's, the more crap they want to stuff in the mix. Weird bunch.
Yes I had MFT checked for cleaning. To help ensure that security software were not involved I ran Privazer in safe mode as Admin. Still the file names residual remained when deep-scanned by Recuva. Recuva did say that there were no file fragments on the HDD... still the file names were coming from somewhere. MFT? Out of curiosity I ran Revo's "Evidence Eliminator" (normal login) and followed it up with Recuva deep scan. Where there once were hundreds of entries, there was now less than 10, and most of these files were in the Trash. So Revo was able to clean up what was seemingly untouched by Privazer... an unexpected, though worrisome, result!
I'm running Privazer 3.0.44 and noticed it has some issues with deleting cookies. If I run Privazer's internet cleanup and make sure ALL cookies are selected and then immediately run CCleaner when Privazer finishes, it ALWAYS finds left behind cookies. Any idea why? Is it something I'm doing wrong or a bug or ?? Thanks
Yep I double checked with taskman before starting. I tried it again the other day and Privazer left like 50+ cookies behind that CCleaner found (and deleted). That is why I'm a bit confused as to whether it's a bug or something weird on my end.
@Privazer I am mystified with the calling up of Microsoft Windows Disk Clean up during the cleaning process. It would appear that the disk clean kicks off and Privazer merrily chugs along in parallel. In consequence Privazer can get to the point of cleaning free space whilst Disk clean is still working. This does not seem to be sound logic. The screenshot also shows that Windows Module Installer worker is running, again, maybe coincidence and unfortunate but is this a good idea to be presumably updating and cleaning with windows at the same time as Privazer is trying to wipe free space?
@takiabtom Running Windows 7 - privazer will wait till Microsoft Windows Disk Clean is finished whatever it's doing. Have noticed that Windows 10 does what you are observing. FWIW.
First time (as I can recall), Privazer 3.0.45 has not shutdown automatically after cleaning. It got stuck with that pop-up message about shutting down in 0 seconds - all night long. "v3.0.45 (12 april 201 - Improved automatic PC shutdown after cleanups - improved update process" Rolling back my "improved update".
Of course Norton has the worst reputation! Privazer 3.0.45 stuck running the process #Memory (x64Win 7) Previous version didn't have this issue is still possible to download Privazer v3.0.44? Thanks Camelia
Hello to @all, @camelia, keep us posted on your findings. here it is : https://www.privazer.com/privazer_free-3.0.44.exe @zmechys, I will code an hybrid solution to get it really improved. @takiabtom, @jopa66, we will work on it. The disk cleanup utility may hang. Risky to wait for it to close if it doesn't to perform the cleaning of the free space whith PrivaZer. So the solution we implemented, resides on waiting up to 5-10 minutes and resume the cleaning with PrivaZer. Maybe we should find another way to proceed...
