I sent an email to Tony and received an auto-reply stating that he would no longer be with Symantec after the 28th of February, plus elsewhere...
Another potential problem for Symantec. https://community.norton.com/en/forums/symantec-has-business-relationship-nra
When certain people leave a company you know things are about to change in a bad way. This is one of those cases.
I left Norton when Tavis found serious and stupid bugs in their products and what Symantec did was just saying "We will add additional check" while many competitors had adopted bug bounty (and look, we're still getting many vulnerabilities. Where's that additional check?). I still use SEP in work place but it doesn't include web protection and they say it should be done in perimeter, but my work place seemingly don't.
I agree. At my work we are using sep and are leaving them and installing fortinet client. Makes sense we have a fortigate getting installed soon. I got tried of their cloud product disconneting and is having to reinstall them to fix them.
Symantec Cuts Ties With NRA https://thinkprogress.org/symantec-security-company-cuts-ties-with-the-nra-a61c876dcf4d/
Too many people to be random. Something bad happened or is going to. I haven't used their product in a while on my PC. I'll be removing it from my phone and not renewing it for the family members still on it. Time to switch them to something else.
I agree. They've been shedding staff for a while and I guess they feel their forums aren't that important. Symantec's help on their forums is almost non-existent compared to a few years ago. Apparently people get quicker help from Symantec on social media sites like Twitter. Already gone from my machines.
Ever since Symantec changed the format of their forum, things started going down hill. On the old forum there was a sort of pride in getting up in the ranks and giving and receiving Kudo's for helping members. They even had a thread congratulating members moving up in rank. All that is gone.
That stinks. Glad I am not using any of their products. I have a license that expires in September of this year. Looks like I will let that one slip on by.
Funny you should say that. Have you checked out recent threads on their forum today? Edit: Because their forums are cached you would need to log in to see the most recent posts.
It's not about politics. If that were the case, I would stop using Kaspersky. Not using Symantec is about the direction they are going in, and getting rid of some solid guys imho. Perhaps when they actually improve their product, start to listen to customers, and get rid of those awful browser extensions maybe I will be back. For now, I have a few other av's up my sleeve that I am happy with.
All the company has to do is shut their hole about their political beliefs, and work harder on their inferior product.
It looks like it could be yet another seriously flawed update. https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-22121-patch-wipes-out-scheduled-tasks Patch testing seems to be almost nonexistent.
Yep, I manually ran LiveUpdate last night, and when I realized it was about to download a very large file, I clicked "Cancel". I went to the forums to see what was up, and found there was a new version available, but that it was causing some issues. I'm going to wait on this one....
