my point of view no. i think it changes integrity level from app container to untrusted. so for me it's useless

There are lot of opinion about that question. I dont use Chrome but if I did, I would certainly run it under Sandboxies supervision. Real quick some reasons I can think of, if you get hit by ransomware, Sandboxie isolates the infection from the system. Your system is intact after deleting the sandbox. Can the Chrome sandbox do that? I doubt it, probably not. Another reason, drive byes. All of the sudden while browsing you get hit by one and tries to exploit a program in your system, Sandboxie protects. Can Chrome do that? Can the Chrome sandbox protect you when you download an installer and click it by mistake, if is malicious, are you infected or not? With Sandboxie, you wouldnt.

There are a lot of reasons to use SBIE. Another one. You can protect your personal files and folders, your sensitive information from being accessed, stolen by programs running in the sandbox. To me, thats huge. Chrome, its sandbox cant help you with that. More. You can completely isolate the entire browsing session from suffering permanent changes. So, when you close Chrome, with Sandboxie, your entire Chrome installation remain static. The only things that change would be what you allow out. If you allow bookmarks only, that's all it changes. If you installed an extension while browsing, its gone when you delete the sandbox.

There are lot of reasons to use Sandboxie. How about Sandbox Restrictions. With them, you can minimize the amount of programs that can run or are allowed internet access. You cant do that with Chrome. No Sandboxie, all programs you encounter in webpages can run, can have access to the internet, steal your files and phone home, etc. There is more but that is plenty, I think. :)

I agree with Bo, I run Chrome in Sandboxie frequently, IMO it will do a lot more good than harm.

I tried using Sandboxie yesterday with Eset Internet Security, and ERP. All seemed well until I needed to shut down my PC. I tried shutting down, and rebooting my PC from the Windows Start Menu, and neither button responded. When I clicked on Restart, or Shutdown nothing happened. I ended up having to hold the power button in, and doing a hard shut down. I rolled my computer back after that, and installed AppGuard instead.

Anyone else ever experience this with Sandboxie? I'm using Windows 10 x64 Pro Version 1709.

Never had. Sandboxie doesn't interfere with the Start button or anything other than programs running sandboxed.

I was thinking maybe the Sandboxie service did not want to shut down, or it was conflicting with another application on my machine. I really wanted to use SB, but it didn't work out for me.

I am just curious to know if you had Fast Startup enabled also known as Hybrid Boot? The reason I ask is that Tony had said that fast startup had a negative impact on Shadow Defender and asked users to turn it off and I wondered if this could be something similar.

There are (I would say, many security programs that conflict with SBIE), after rereading your previous post, one scenario I think might explain what happened would be the following: When you close a sandboxed program, scanners and other security programs that you are using, scan and do their thing within the sandbox folder, this is done before programs running in the sandbox are terminated and the sandbox gets deleted. Normally this takes seconds but if there is a conflict or for some reason the scanning is taking longer, and perhaps you tried to shutdown the PC before the deleting was over as you did not realize that the process was still taking place, I can see perhaps there being a glitch or something when you attempted to shutdown.

One of the first things I did after getting my W10 was to disable Fast startup. But I have tested the setting a couple of times. I cant see that setting conflicting in any way with Sandboxie. Also, I never read anyone report any issue with SBIE related to Fast startup. As far as I know, if you are a SBIE user and you want to use that setting, you can.

Indeed, there is none; i have FS enabled while using Sbie since ages, never had any incompatibilities issues with both active.

Put ERP in training mode, and do a reboot. That will whitelist everything you need.
Sometimes when you add to your system a new program that starts services, it changes the whole boot order, and processes that used to start before ERP, now start after ERP, and this can cause blockage. You might not even see a prompt, because ERP is still in the midst of loading its GUI.
The solution is to put ERP in training mode, and do a couple reboots.

I brought your comment in here to not get off-topic there. Regard your question I tell you no. Not a major issue with it but I run Windows 8.1 though.

I bought yubikey but for some reason it doesnt work with gmail in chrome when it is started in sandboxie. Outside of sandboxie there is no problems. Is there some setting to change in the sandboxie settings? I use sandboxie 5-23-5

Search for Yubikey at the Sandboxie forum, there are some threads that might give you clues. But anyway, I found this one, read the last paragraph of the last post.
    https://forums.sandboxie.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=24553&p=128738&hilit=yubikey#p128787

Also, try using a new sandbox with default settings (No restrictions) and for testing, disable your antivirus.

I just downloaded and installed KB4056897 on w7/64 and got the 'SBIE incompatibility message'. I had SBIE 5.22 installed.
Scrolling back thru this thread to early January, I see that beta version 5.22.3 fixes the problem. The suggestion was to uninstall the KB, install the beta SBIE and then reinstall the patch. I installed beta 5.22.6 without uninstalling the patch and it worked.

For information, I can confirm, beta 5.23.7 is working well in Windows 10 systems that have Secure boot enabled. Installation went well, testing of all functions I do sandboxed gives excellent results.

I am going to do W7 now, it should go perfect.
