Question: would Voodooshield be a good solution for an offline computer? I have never used it without internet connection, I have no idea how it functions in that situation.

I have an old desktop computer on the other side of the house, where there is no internet connection. The main security threat this computer faces is flash drives. The computer is used mainly by the children, and it got infected last week from a child's flash drive.
The infection was no big deal to clean up, but now I am trying to work out a better protection plan, so I thought VS might help.

If your only concern is USB drives then auto-pilot won't be the best option because VS needs internet for the above. In Smart Mode or Always On VS should protect your machine, unless the kiddies just allow anything anyway. Maybe some training in cyber security too. ;)

Edit: MC Shield doesn't need to be connected to work, only if there is an update released. I don't use it anymore so can't comment how often that happens.

So I could set it to smart mode and hide alerts. They don't install new programs (they are on a standard user account), so that should work.

Yeah, I think so but maybe others have some more options too. However, VS might be upset about not being able to phone home. Even the free version sends a prompt to upgrade once a week. It's worth trying for a couple of weeks anyway.

My VoodooShield install got broken / corrupted indicating it cannot contact VoodooShield Service and asking to reinstall it completely. Is this something others are seeing or have seen? Please see attached screenshot.

    Note: reboot did not help.

VoodooShield service is down and when I try to start it, it says "the system cannot find the file specified".

Side question: is this the best forum for VoodooShield questions?

I was wondering where Dan had gone to. I didn't know he was active over at Calendar of Updates again. It's been a while since I have visited Calendar of Updates.
