Never used Webroot or followed the product but I don't understand all the bashing on the company when maybe a disagreement had happened with one volunteer, what is this has to do or change with Webroot as a product or the company in general?!

Yes - I understand everyone is free with their choices whether to use this or that, but I don't think that justifies the bashing in public forums.

    Hi hayc59

I can undestand where you are coming from...and yes, some sadly ignorant persons at Webroot may have indeed disrespected Daniel (it is a point of view...but one that I agree with in a personal capacity), and done wrong by him & all that he has contributed to making WRSA what it is today (and no one should underestmate that as I am sure you don't).

But that is not IMHO a reason to ditch precipitously what is arguably (in MY opinion) the best AM app out there. Even Daniel himself stated that he had nothing againt the app and would continue using it/assisting with it use (outside of the Webroot Community)...which is great news for us all, as we can ill afford to lose his insights on this & security in general.

We are all (or at least most of us) supportive of Daniel, what he has done, who he is, what he stands for...sure, it is your right to do what you want...but I would urge you not to cut of your nose to spite your face...so to speak. It will not affect Webroot themselves one iota so the only one to really lose out will be you. :(

My comments are made respectfully & humbly, and are not intended to offend.

    Regards, Baldrick

Ha. You support whatever you want, thats nothing to argue about.. but I thought this is a public forum that has this support thread for everyone to ask questions about the product. Now I could see a staff member bashing on that product and the company behind it because he is sad about his friend..

Thanks everyone for your support! I just wanted to let everyone know and that's it, I did what I feel I had to do so lets continue to talk about WSA as it's not about me.

    Thanks,

Hey guys, what is this 'reg key' issue all about? I'm running Win7 SP1 (x64) and I see that my WSA has updated to v9.0.19.43.
    Any info/advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the info. Am I to understand that the reg key in question was automatically enabled when WSA updated to v9.0.19.43? Also, would I be correct in concluding that the reg key must be enabled in order to get the Meltdown/Spectre patches from Microsoft?
    ....Am I still confused?

I have been updated to v9.0.19.43 since last november and don't have the reg key for m and s as far as i know. Edit ... i was on v44 since last year until yesterday when wsa must have reset my app and forced me to enter my licence key again, and then i went back to v43 instead of v44 where i was before...https://community.webroot.com/t5/Pr...lease-notes-for-version-9-0-18-44/td-p/305712

I don't know as I'm on Win 10. Maybe ask support via the Ticket System to be sure. I know my brother is using Win 7 x64 without issues using the latest WSA.

Is my machine going to slow down because i have the reg key and the jan ms os patch for m and s now. I won't have the Bios Update ever. Does the Bios update slow down the machine, or is it the ms OS patch after the reg key that slows everything down.

In a way this whole spectra/meltdown issue is like a monster nobody yet has seen or laid there hands on. - has anyone been hit by it, and has anyone read of somebody who has ?

Well as we all know the Meltdown and Spectre issues are real and as you say a Monster. It's a wait and see if they are exploited and our AV's should protect us. It will be an interesting ride as more info comes to light over time.
