I think that Adric meant that SUMo shouldn't offer a version 9 update to Java 8 as long as Java 8 is supported.
But that is not how SUMo works.
SUMo always reports the version that has the highest version number, also if a previous series it still supported.
Another example is LibreOffice. If one chooses to stay on the still supported 'conservative' previous LibreOffice series, SUMo will report a version of the 'early adopter' series is available. Same as for Java.
It is not an error, it is simply how SUMo works.

In this case the update must be skipped by the user "Skip this update ..."

Yes, that is what I usually do, when I don't need a certain update.
Or, sporadically, I keep the SUMo report as it is, to remind me of the available update, in case I want it later on.

Okay, the reason why I mentioned it was, this is the 1st time v9 was offered to me by SUMO. v9 has been out for a while and I thought SUMO differentiated between the two. On Win7 32-bit, I don''t get the offer and v8u161 is showing up as OK. According to what has been said, v9 should be offered for both 32-bit and 64-bit. I assume the SUMO algorithm is also involved causing this mismatch (32-bit -> 2% vs. 63% and 64-bit -> 33% vs. 39% ).

Finally followed your option and marked 9.0.4 as beta for the time being even if available for 64bits systems already

No problems here, Kyle. I got the latest version via automatic update about half an hour ago.

The latest official release for the portable version here is v347. Anyone know where v444 is coming from?
    Code:
[SUMo] Error Report for WinMerge 2011 by http://winmerge.org v 2011.7.347 - SUMo reports Update available (2011.7.444.0)
[SUMo] Error Report for WinMerge 2011 (64 bits) by http://winmerge.org v 2011.7.347 - SUMo reports Update available (2011.7.444.0)

Frhed belongs to the portable version of Winmerge 2011 which has been forked from the original here and here. No idea where the 64-bit update version of frhed is coming from.
    Code:
[SUMo] Error Report for Frhed by Raihan Kibria v 0.10903.2017.0 - SUMo reports Update available (1.6.0.0)
[SUMo] Error Report for Frhed (64 bits) by Raihan Kibria v 0.10903.2017.0 - SUMo reports Update available (0.10904.2017.0)

Issue: A confusing situation has developed with Media Player Classic - Home Cinema. Version 1.7.13.0 of MPC-HC is the last official release of the program. SUMo is seeing and reporting newer, unofficial releases that continue the version numbering scheme, but it doesn't point to anywhere these updates can be downloaded.

I sometimes see some kind of a warning when I start SUMo: Degraded mode
It sometimes pops up for a second and then disappears. What kind of "mode" is it?
