Is it asking for password after being installed on your computer, or during the live session (there shouldn't be any account login required during that anyways!) ?
If the former, try root, or toor.

I am asking once booted to the USB drive 'Mint' Opens up and it has a box that is asking for username/password to go further
I never set one up..so dont know what it could be?? Now your saying to put that word in to get to live session
and continue on? does that cover username and password? thank you for the advise

Did you setup that USB stick using the MintStick application?

I believe this only happens for Cinnamon, because in general it will log you in automatically.
Try to use username mint, then if it asked for password press Enter.

For the password, you may try root or live as well.

If you have tried root, toor, live as passwords and none worked, have you tried my suggestion of ignoring this step by pressing Enter key?

Or try mint as the password.
