Mozilla Firefox Browser Stable Version Releases

The main one, is that it opens everything entered in the address bar opens in a new tab, rather than the current one. There are other things too (which can be added to other Chrommium based browsers with extensions), such as new tabs opneing to the right of the current tab and switching to the tab to the left of the current tab when closing it.

 

This is also possible in Firefox - at least for bookmarks.

There are also corresponding add-ons for Firefox.

From the forum messages at tabmixplus.org it does appear to be in development, but no word yet on when it will become available and what features it will offer.

 

That's some good news. I miss TMP, using the center button works OK for new tabs I miss the ease of configuring everything just right.

 

I can get Firefox to open everything entered in the address bar in a new tab, with the New Tab from Location Bar extension.

With the addition of the following extensions and some about:config tweaks, I was able to get Firefox close to how I had Cent/360 working.
Open Tabs Next to Current
Page Translator
Select After Closing Current
Undo Close Tab
Undo Closed Tabs Button

The Page Monitor extension I use to check for updated to webpages, only works in Chrome, which meant I had to use two browsers. As well, every now and then Firefox would freeze, requiring it to closed via Task Manager. In general, I prefer Chromium based browsers to Firefox. I only switched to FF due its speed, but since solving the speed issue with Chrome, it made sense to ditch Firefox.

I've gone back to using Cent browser again (which is what I used before switching to Firefox), as some there are some very minor bugs in 360.

 

the thing with a new tab when entering a address is most called missing feature, but it was TMP given and TMP dont have a direct alternative, only a collection. its ok when people ask for missing features, but changing to complete other browser which only looks similar is running away instead looking for solutions.

i am also running chromium - only few times now since quantum arrived. i had some work to "create" my personal browser based on firefox 54. it never would be the same but is close to. same for quantum - never be like v54 again, but more like chromium.

you have to remember that mozilla never would allow such digging as tabmix plus did in firefox.
plus internal pages are not touchable, also addons.mozilla.org is excluded from webextensions.

i started firefox 57 with a hand full of own conversions from the chrome store, now it is the minority (~40 webextensions now)
there exists some extension to open links in a new tab, more than a hand full. but all those share same - they have to be used on loaded pages, because script based and internal pages are not allowed. ALT+Enter, sometimes i miss it, but something i wont complain about.

if you feel firefox slow - i have doubt that it is firefox caused. i have 3 different systems running and either firefox and chromium are fast, fast in its origin, slower with extensions. in most cases the system is braking.

 

Firefox is fast on my system. It was Chrome based browsers that I had issues with, until I disabled the Adguard extension. Without Adguard, I would say that there is not a huge amount of difference in performance between Firefox and Chrome.

i have decided to keep 56.0.2 and not update just because i don't know if i can export my password (seeing i have 1 desktop ,2 laptops and an imac ,don't want to synch via mozilla servers)
there are security updates for v56 ?
or is there a way to force the last update of firefox to use old extension like password exporter or save password editor

BTW, can you guys verify if techcrunch.com is running extremely sluggish on FF v52? When I disable JavaScript it works normally, but then the page isn't displayed correctly of course.

OK thanks, did you test with Firefox v 52? Seems like rendering bug. Actually, in FF 57 it also doesn't load smoothly, it's a real crappy designed website.

Does a profile include bookmarks ?? Extensions? Just User Settings?

I hope profile changes don't mean a mismatch with e.g. CCleaner, or Sandboxie settings.
