Here is a great recent technical paper on Eset's security protections: https://cdn1-prodint.esetstatic.com/ESET/US/docs/about/ESET-Technology-Whitepaper.pdf

Thanks. Registry key exists after Eset module update. Updated Windows manually (KB4056892), restart required.

About LiveGrid in version 11.0.159 :

I noticed today that the option to be not notified at all has been removed from the advanced setup:
"Turn off "ESET LiveGrid is not accessible"

I don't see that option to turn off notification "ESET LiveGrid is not accessible" anymore there. Anybody else see it there?
I do NOT want to be disturbed by such a notification while I'm doing other things (being on- or off-line). I want that option back!!! Please ESET give that option back!!! Let users decide whether they want to be confronted with it or not!

We did not remove anything. The option to disable notifications about inaccessible LiveGrid servers is found under User interface -> Application statuses.
I'd suggest posting in our official forum https://forum.eset.com next time where it will get better attention of ESET's staff or other experienced ESET's users.

    Hi Marcos,
    Thanks for your post.
Forgive me but I don't see the option "ESET LiveGrid is not accessible" anymore in User interface -> Application statuses > General.
Maybe it is me, maybe my bad eyes, but I do not see that option there anymore. There is another option ("Eset LiveGrid is disabled") but that is not the same.
    See screenshots.

PS: I wasn't able to get the whole General tab in one screenshot so I took two; parts are "overlapping" in the screenshots.

You are right. I still have that option in Endpoint which uses an older version of the Configuration Engine module. Will check it with devs but I don't think it was intentionally removed. Next time please post rather in our official forum if you come across an issue, or we might not learn about it and won't be able to respond.

    Thanks Marcos.
I hope that you will be able to keep us updated.

BTW about the Configuration module, here are two versions I had recently:

    10 Jan 2018 - Configuration module (33): 1565 (20170919)
    16 Jan 2018 - Configuration module (33): 1525.11 (20171227)

A simple person as me, trying to think logically, would think that there is something non-logical there:
Version 1565 is much newer than version 1525.11, at least I would think. But the dates are telling otherwise. So what is happening here?

    Thanks.

I can confirm that V11.0.159.5 is indeed OUT for Eset Internet Security as well; the Live Installer and the offline installers for IS are now on the ESET website. However, the automatic updater has NOT been changed yet to install 159.5. I simply installed the updated IS over 159.0 with no problems.

yeah and no mentioning of this on the ESET forums, in fact their stickies point to a version 2 steps behind.

I thought that that last digit ( .5 in this case) is pointing to a language version.
Like .0 points to the English version.
    Am I now wrong?

The version "numbering" system used by Eset can be somewhat confusing ...
You think xyz is greater than abc (from a mathematical point of view), so you think that that version with xyz is newer than the one with abc.
But that mathematical (logic) thinking isn't always right with the way Eset does its version "numbering".

Here is a Quote from Marcos on the ESET Forums when a user asked about the changelog:

    OK, thanks.
Maybe I have to stand corrected about what I said about language versions. I don't know.

PS: please give the link when quoting from another site, in this case the Eset forum.

I WAS wrong, and I DO stand corrected.
So, I can only offer my apologies. And that's what I'm doing now.
(Finally I had the time to manually install (using the off-line installer) version 11.0.159.5 over 11.0.159.0 , English)

Although there is more I want to say, I refrain from all of that.

I noticed that https://www.eset.com/int/home/antivirus/download/ is telling now too version 11.0.159.9.

I don't know whether the changelog (at the advanced download option there) is giving the latest info. (That's the problem when they say there at the top of the changelog "Version 11.0.159.X", and I haven't saved the previous one so I could compare them).

For the record, two of my computers upgraded automatically.
I don't recall that ever happening to me.
