If VT scanning option is enabled does it means (according to new policy of VT) that our data goes to VT...right?
Yes, but i guess only in the case of "unknown files". I assume that Glasswire calculates the hash and uploads it (the hash) to VT. If there is a score, it is displayed in the Glasswire-GUI. If the file is unknown to VT (no score), Glasswire uploads the whole file and is awaiting the result of VT. And the uploaded file will be shared with the information security community.
This has been happening to me since the very first beta and I have reported via email direct to the Team, as requested...and nothing back from them. NOT even an acknowledgement of the fact that I had raised and issue. From my point of view their SUpport really stinks and is very amateur in realtion to launching a beta. Will be interesting to see if they react to this via the forum...I live in hope.
Can't see where though ... @Baldrick, see @mood's post #229, which contains the link to my post in their Forum - a clean install (and firewall reset) solved it for me. Dunno about direct support, but I have found they are pretty quick to respond on the Forum.
Hi paulderdash Thanks for the response...and to all...my apologies for the vitriolic post...have a bad cold and was just feeling depressed that Glasswire, that has in the past been so stable & good, is misbehaviing on my system (must be a local thing as not many seem to be reporting something similar ). Thanks for the suggestions but have already tried these and many more and still cannot get it to work properly; whjich is strange as when I revert back to v1.2...it works flawlessly...so go figure. Also, Daniel (thank you, The Man) has managed to hook me up with someone at Glasswire and I have sent them my experiences and hopefully they will be able to figure what is wrong on my system. Again, thanks fortrying to assist...it is much appreciated. Have a great weekend. Regards, Baldrick
Seems like they made some nice changes. Does it now work about the same as WFC, when it comes to protection against unauthorized rules?
Thanks, found that under Usage>All>Apps column (double-click app). And also under Firewall tab ... nice.
Well, good news. It looks like v2.0.80 has resolved my issue with the Firewall automatically switching off just after enablement...so I am well chuffed. However, what I am now seeing that after unlocking either Settings/Security or Settings/VirusTotal then next time I go into the Settings the 'unlock' button for both are greyed out, when I would have expected them to remained showing 'Lock'. So perhaps another little bug/wrinkle that needs to be looked into. Anyone else noticing that? Regards, Baldrick
Sounds like the beginning of a database for an AI enhanced version Glasswire but sharing things on my system never makes me comfortable .
I switched back to WFC because the Allow or Deny settings do not stick with 2.0.80. Some do, some don't. I don't have time to debug. I will keep my eye on Glasswire as I really like the interface, but I don't trust it yet.
Is Glasswire the best firewall now for Windows 10? I used to have Outpost which went abandonware but gave me a license to KIS. As KIS is up for renewal, wondering if I should rely on Glasswire.
It's not an actual firewall, it controls the Windows Firewall. Outpost used to be a true standalone firewall. Yes, trust also plays a role. It has full access to all network traffic according to some other member.
I am running Glasswire Pro v1.2.121 and I am completely satisfied with the performance, features, stability, etc. So far I have passed on the update to v2, with the holidays, etc, no time to debug a new version. When I saw the recommendation to do a clean install it put me off, even though I take regular images, and a rollback to a previous image would be fairly minor for me. Has anybody had a good experience with an over the top update to v2?
