Is there something like Belgium language? I think some ads are only available in German and English version.

It IS possible, and may depend on your location, or the language.
I guess the location is the crux.

After many years I had given up on Kaspersky products because of their high price among other things, I took advantage of the appearance of the free version to install it for the first time.
I use Comodo firewall with HIPS and Kaspersky advised against Comodo software when installing, but giving all the various permissions to each was enough to let them live well together.
I also ran Kaspersky with HitmanProAlert in another computer and also they got along together well.
May I say I'm not Russian or connected in any way with them, but Kaspersky Free got hold and averted all virus and ransom threats BEFORE any other software.
I really think that if you add Comodo firewall + HIPS + Containment (possibly set up like cruelsister suggested) to Kaspersky Free you're protected quite well.
By the way...my pc is two months old, I removed Windows 10, and run windows7pro and I never saw unnecessary ads or third party popups.

    Eugene kaspersky stated:
Kaspersky Free is a completely free security solution that does not show any third-party advertisements. Kaspersky Free also does not collect your personal data. (N°1)

This is the keyword. They'll sometimes show an ad for their paid versions (first-party ad).

Confirmed, no third-party ads, but offers for their paid solution, everyday.
My location is Germany. Frequency may vary in other countries.

I only had the free version installed two days and got a pop up trying to up-sell me the paid version both days. I won't have ads in my browser and I'm sure not going to have them on my desktop.

It's not surprising an ad urging you to buy was received in the first two days.....isnt this an almost
    universal practice of paid software?
I run KF since a couple of months and I get a reminder only once in a while, perhaps a week or two.
Probably you didnt register, hence the 'pletora' of two ads in two days......

But, broadly speaking,I've seen this histeria against some "foreign" software in the past, like against Iron browser (fault: German) which I successfully continue to use, and now this new histeria vs Kaspersky, shown as a weapon of KGB , which I think changed of name ,incidentally.
In an era when the real relationship of governments vs the web was amply disclosed, this attitude
    is simply ridicolous.

Ah, but I did indeed register. I would accept ads every now and then with free software but I wasn't waiting for day 3 to see if I received a third ad.
    Wasn't my case.

I have Kaspersky Free and I haven't been able to auto-update to the latest Windows 10 security update to patch Meltdown and Spectre.

Anyone else experiencing similar behavior? I've manually updated Kaspersky Free's database signatures and still no-go from Windows Update.

Have you added Windows Update to KFA's exclusion list? Or disable KFA temporarily when you need to download and install Windows updates.

I dont think there's any need to make any special allowance-exclusion in Kaspersky for Windows Update....

I've never trusted Windows Updates in KF in four computers by now and they all update very well....
In spite of having very strict set ups.

The problem you encounter is probably because of windows 10.

Sorry for MS trolls over here, but I know a few persons who even had their pc damaged after large annual windows 10 updates....
One of my notebooks running W10 was completely wrecked OS-wise by the latest creators,so i decided to
downgrade it to Win8.1 ,which at least gives you the option to decide yourself about updates, otherwise i run linux or windows7.

Did you check if registry key was set by KF? If you have AMD CPU, you can check if it will get update later.

There shouldn't be any Kaspersky issues for the latest Windows Update. I have updated several without any problems.

Well, the compatible registry key looks like it was set, but Windows 10 didn't want to update to the security update automatically. I ended up manually downloading the relevant KB and installed it last night. Everything seems to be working now.

I've done multiple machines with different AV. I've had some with Windows Defender that didn't get presented with the update and had to do them manually. Fortunately no issues that I have seen.

Are you sure that it is coming from Kaspersky? I have never heard a sound from it on any PC. What browser? Any other add-ons?
