I wonder if they finally fixed an issue where clicking on the scan results fly-out would start the scan again? That was a pretty stupid long running bug I endured while using Avast.

Avast blocked my Yahoo mail on a Chrome.

I just installed Avast free. After installing it, I could not access Yahoo email via Chrome (I do not use any other browser, so I had no other browsers to test.) I could go to mail.yahoo.com but I saw none of my current email nor archived email. I could find no setting in Avast to allow me to see my email.

I then uninstalled Avast and I could see my Inbox mail on mail.yahoo.com via the preview window again but I could still not access any of my saved folders in Yahoo mail nor could I interact with my current mail much beyond the preview window. I could not even open/see my trash folder.

I then uninstalled Chrome and reinstalled Chrome. I could then fully access my Yahoo mail just as I could before installing Avast.

Was this just my bad luck or is this a known issue with Avast? Anyone else have this problem? Is there any fix/setting change to allow Yahoo mail to be shown while using Avast?

Hello, I'm looking for Avast offline installer (~200MB) of previous version, 17.8.2318 (latest one is 17.9.2322).
Is there any official downloads archive?

Is there some place where I can find checksums (MD5 / SHA1 / SHA256) of Avast AV offline installers?
If not, can anyone share with me checksum of 17.8.2318 offline version?

Your both links with 17.8.2318 have this link:
    http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

    Please look here: https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=212045.0
It is the topic with the lastest version 17.9.2322 and it has the same link:
    http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe

Conclusion: this link always downloads the latest versions and I need previous one. :(

@anon: Thank you for this link but I've found this one earlier by googling.
My problem is that I've never heard about this website before (= I do not really trust it) and that's why I asked here for any official archive.

There are two options in Settings > Components > File Shield > Customize > Advanced:

Use transient caching - By selecting this option, if a file is scanned and no thread is detected, this information will be stored in the temporary memory. The file will not be scanned again until either the system is restarted or the virus definitions are updated.

Use persistent caching - If this option is selected, files that are verified as clean (e.g. files that contain a valid digital signature) will not be scanned again, even after a system restart or virus definitions update.

Does anyone know where exactly these both caches are located (in which folders*) and if they are located on system partition then is there any simple way to transfer them to other one? I am especially looking for information about "transient cache".

*) Following my searches it seems that "persistent cache" is in the subdirectory of the C:\ProgramData\ folder.

Yes, that's also what I am thinking, but what about transient cache? Do you have any idea?

Avast! AntiVirus Pro is no longer offered, now they want to promote the IS or the bloated Premiere it seems.

Over the last couple of days, I uninstalled Avast Business Edition at work because it refused to save settings. Used to alter settings back to default on system boot, which I dealt with for a while and then on Thursday it simply reverted settings back pretty much on the hour without rebooting. Uninstalled. At home, Avast Free, refused to honor exceptions of any kind. No matter how many times I added an exception, it kept prompting me on a file. Again, uninstalled.

Trying Sophos Home Free on my home system here. So far, so good. Bitdefender at work.
