Windows 10 pro, 64 bit - all updates installed without problems. Very many for Office 2007.
MRT was included, but looked totally weird to me. I'm not and never have been on any insider, yet it was called "... for Windows Insider Preview and Server Technical Preview x64 ...". WHY?

I was careless in my W7 and ended up installing KB2952664 by mistake. I was fooled by the date (it had a November date). Uninstalled it after checking what it was about...after installing it :D.

    Hi Bo,

Yeah, I don't know. Maybe it had something to do with an update to Netgear Genie I received earlier today. The linked article says it was last updated: 11 Apr 2017. It installed on all three of my machines, and it looks like bloody 1709 is installing against my wishes on my laptop That is the machine that the had most issues with the Start menu. It plays up after this that machine will lose Windows, period!

Argh, I missed that. Thanks Stupendous Man!
I got it offered again when I manually checked WU.
It is now installed. Due to other (and not related) reasons I don't want to put back a backup image at the moment. We'll see ...

    Regarding KB4049016,
I wouldn't worry about it, FanJ.
I doubt there was much or even anything wrong with KB4049016.
Woody Leonhard talked about the "buggy" KB4049016, but I didn't find any references to it being buggy. Did I miss something?
If I am not mistaken, the only thing wrong was that Microsoft hadn't handled the supercedence chain on the patches properly and corrected that later.
I will probably install KB4049016 next week, before next Patch Tuesday in two weeks.

    Thanks again!

    PS:
Have you installed .NET Framework 4.7 ?
    I haven't yet.

    I have.
On one Windows 7 x64 system, I installed .NET Framework 4.7 as early as May 9th, that was a manual download, that had a D3DCompiler_47.dll dependency.
After installing D3DCompiler_47.dl and .NET Framework 4.7, I found that the Windows Features list (Turn Windows Features on or off) in Windows 7 was blank/empty. I don't know if it was related. I fixed the blank/empty Windows Features list by downloading and running the System Update Readiness tool (KB947821).

On a second Windows 7 x64 system, I installed .NET Framework 4.7 on June 30th, via Windows Update (by then, D3DCompiler_47.dll was offered through the June 13, 2017, Monthly Rollup).
I noticed no issues after installing .NET Framework 4.7 through Windows Update. Windows Features list (Turn Windows Features on or off) was fine.

    Thanks!
Yes, I did read about D3DCompiler_47. At the moment not sure whether I have it. I use the security-only updates, but the .Net Framework updates via WU.
I haven't yet looked at System Update Readiness tool (KB947821).

PS: I've sent you a PM about a language question. I guess that it doesn't make much sense to do that here. Thanks in advance.

According to the June 13, 2017, .NET Blog article Microsoft .NET Framework 4.7 is available on Windows Update, WSUS, and MU Catalog, section "More Information", ".NET 4.7 DirectX dependency", the d3dcompiler_47.dll was and is offered with the June 2017 Monthly Rollup (and later rollups), but not in the Security-only updates, if I'm not mistaken.
So, if you don't have the Rollups installed but the Security-only updates, you would need to first download and install d3dcompiler_47.dll before installing .NET Framework 4.7.

I replied to your PM. And you're welcome. :thumb:

Fall CU cumulative kb4051963 installed perfectly on bork-a-holic primary machine but failed with update error 0x800f081f on the little alternate computer so it was necessary to get this from the Microsoft Update Catalog after the troubleshooting, updating network adapter and all didn't work, as usual. Winver on both now is 16299.98

I've had problems with all three of my machines.

At first none even found KB4051963, then two failed to install it. The one that didn't have any problem installing it now won't boot.

Gotta hate M$'s lack of quality control.

Edit: Thankfully, Macrium Reflect has come to the rescue once again. :thumb:

Who knows though what will happen when it tries to update again.

Unbelievable! After Windows 10 updated my machine will not boot once again.

I'm just about done with Windows.

I'll restore once more but will not manually look for updates.
