iolo have announced their new on-demand scanner, Malware Killer. It hasn't been released yet. http://www.iolo.com/resources/articles/viruses-malware-and-spyware-comparisons-and-contrasts/
I hope it's better than their current antivirus. It sounds very impressive. I was not aware that most antiviruses can't remove malware. Of course it is to be expected that Iolo would make misleading claims. It's what they do best.
Most anti-malware software is unable to disinfect a file, even ones that can be safely disinfected such as word documents. The most well known exceptions are Kaspersky and Bitdefender.
So, will it be based on F-Prot = Cyren Antivirus engine? Had they improved their detection capability?
They haven't released any info on that. I wonder if it will be free or payware. I'm guessing the latter because the majority of their products you have to pay for.
* IMO, the *best* way to disinfect is to install latest clean image of your HD. I image weekly & retain latest 5 images. ** "..... exceptions are Kaspersky and Bitdefender." -- See HERE: U.S. Government has banned used of Kaspersky in Federal agencies.
I agree that backups are the best solution but sometimes a person does not have them and cleaning infected document is quite safe actually. Regarding the US Government banishing Kaspersky I'll worry about it when some evidence is presented... otherwise I'll just regard it as political propaganda.
Well, of course it sounds good. But I would expect, that just like System Mechanic it simply does not live up to the hype. It seems that Iolo have been spending a all their time working on this, as it's been a long time since I've received a barrage of emails informing me that there is a new version of System Mechanic about to be released and how much faster and better it is than the current version.
This will explain the core technologies. https://www.phoenix.com/ Phoenix appears to essentially be iolo.
Phoenix 360, which includes Malware Killer, will be released on December 4. According to a Facebook post from iolo, it will cost $99.95.
It looks like Malware Killer is just going to be a rebrand of Zemana. The user interface on this page is identical.
What the ...... Other copy from Zemana ? just like MalwareFox ? Zemana official confirm to me before in email , they indeed have some technical cooperation with MalwareFox, however not whole the program , only some technical support . But now ? seems the Malware Killer is other copy from Zemana just like MalwareFox did Did Zemana start sold their core technology ? just like Bitdefender sold their database or even the old ATC technology ?
It is the whole program. If have Zemana installed and launch and then exit the installer for MalwareFox, next time you launch Zemana, MalwareFox will launch. Even If Zemana was registered, you will just have the trial of MalwareFox. But, if you run the Zemana installer, you will get your registered Zemana back.
Yeap , i saw your post before , and i agree . quote by Zemana official told in email , they said So indeed there is many strange thing will happen when you install Zemana and MalwareFox in same time , lol But how about now ? is Malware Killer also their re branded product ?
If your thinking of trying Malware Killer, don't. It's a rebrand of Zemana without real-time protection. You would be paying for something you get for free with Zemana.
