I'm new to this app, do I add my folders on my D drive into AC backup setting? I have no valuable docs or pics etc on C drive :doubt:

Are you using the Pro version of AppCheck?

If you have AppCheck Pro, you can add folders to "Backup Sources" and files in this folder will be backuped to <your Backup location>\AutoBackup(AppCheck)
This is an additional layer but it is not available in the free version.
In the free version (and Pro) the Ransomware Protection is protecting your files and is copying files, before they are modified, to the folder \Backup(AppCheck)

Both versions (Free + Pro) are automatically protecting your files, and the Pro verson provides an additional layer with the Auto Backup feature.
External hard disk drives connected via USB are automatically protected too.

On my desktop I have the free, on another PC I have the Pro...Thanks for the info

Don't most Ransomware typically target C drive like in the users folder My Pictures, Docs etc? or does it look everywhere for those types of files to encrypt?

If you have the files on other connected drives, most of them will get hit.

I'm using the "Pro" version.....cannot decide if I should enable "auto-Backup" or not....I do use Macrium 7 and Aoemi Pro backup software to backup both my disk drives every 3 days...what do you think?

I asked a similar question but this is about network shares from a PC not a single NAS or the like.

Fine, IMHO, if you are prepared to at worst lose 3 days of data should you get infected and are just relying on your images.

I have a backup schema that at its most granular images hourly but I also have AppCheck 'auto backup' set on.

    Regards, Baldrick

After disabling the "Network drive protection", files shared through network drives are not protected.
You can use the Backup feature in addition to your existing Macrium & Aoemi Pro backup.
    Triple backup
Or you can backup the most important files/folders with AppCheck Pro, instead of the whole hard disk. Or nothing at all with Appcheck, only with Macrium&Aoemi.

You can never have enough backups :geek:

Something I don't like, well, really absolutely dislike, is that Backup(AppCheck) folder created when Network Drive Protection is on.

I can deal with Backup(AppCheck) folder created at the root of each drive or partition. Fine, no problem, I don't see it so often. But I can't tolerate when I modify via network, a file on the other machine's desktop folder or a sub-folder on that desktop folder. AppCheck ends creating a new one, visible at plain sight, sigh!!! :D

I think AppCheck should make use the existing Backup(AppCheck) folders sitting on the root of each drive/partition used by the other AppCheck already running.

I mean, I like to have my desktops neat and clean.

I haven't noticed any weird behavior from it so far. But yes, it always makes sense to check this kind of stuff.

In my experience, AppCheck is very stable and doesn't seem to be causing any problems. So why not try it.

I added a folder to Backup Source Folder list but two sub folders are missing in the <AutoBackup (AppCheck)> folder. Anyone know what the problem could be? I contacted support two days ago but have not heard anything back yet.

Wow, I wonder how advanced this Exploit Guard really is, will it also inject code into the browser?

    Yes, it is doing it.
I can see new files in the AppCheck directory:
    AppCheck32.dll / AppCheck64.dll = File Description: AppCheck Anti-Exploit DLL
After enabling of the Anti-Exploit feature and launching Firefox, the dll is injected into the process:
