I think NS will be ready soon. I stopped using it a while ago though.

 

If the new version still doesn't offer domain-specific rules (as uB0 and uMatrix do) I'll wait for it a bit longer. We'll see

Looks interesting This seems to suggest that domain-specific rules are finally supported. As long as there is no possibility to quickly change the {global|domain-specific|site-specific} scope like in uMatrix I see no reason why I should switch. But I will certainly test it.

I tried FF 57 portable on my older W7 64-bit laptop (T4400 Pentium dual core, 3 GB RAM). Even the 32-bit version was pinning the CPU near 100% and using 70% of RAM, even with only uBO and Tampermonkey as add-ons. It didn't respect my setting to use only 1 process (even after restarts); it was effectively unusable. I ditched it and will stick with ESR for now, but I will also give Chromium another try.

 

NoScript offers a lot more than UBO or uMatrix. You keep forgetting, NoScript is like Coca cola, The real thing .

Here is an interesting thing.
I've been trying Waterfox recently with some issues. My primary browser has been Firefox with all the necessary add-ons.
Just recently, I've updated Firefox (not to that fancy Firefox 57) on my laptop and almost all of my "precious" add-ons disappeared.
I've looked on the Internet about "How to re-install Old Firefox data", but in a hurry, somehow, I've deleted my Firefox Profile, and since then, even after uninstalling Firefox with "Soft organizer" several times, I was not able to install Firefox( ) on my laptop. I was always getting samo-samo message, "Cannot find your profile".
I said enough and downloaded Waterfox.
And here is an interesting thing, I have the same "right/correct" add-ons for Waterfox/Firefox (but without Firefox browser on my laptop) I have no problems with Waterfox whatsoever.

 

At one time I believe Waterfox and Firefox shared the same profile. IIRC I had x86 Firefox as there was no x64 back in the day, and when I downloaded Waterfox it shared the Firefox x86 profile.

When I then installed and later uninstalled Waterfox on the same day a few days ago, and then opened x64 Firefox, I got a message asking me if I wanted to 'refresh' x64 Firefox as I'd apparently uninstalled Firefox earlier. Which I hadn't. I'm guessing Waterfox still shares Firefox's profile in some way. Although when I ran Waterfox it opened as vanilla with no custom profile.

 

I think to reinstall Firefox, you ll probably have to do a clean install. Uninstall, delete folders in AppData and Program files, reboot, and reinstall.

The thing I always avoided for not corrupting my Firefox installation is not to have 2 Firefox alike browsers installed at the same time in the same computer. For me, that has always being a big no no. Probably, the proper thing to do if you have to have both Firefox alike browsers at the same time would be to set them up to use different profiles. But even so, corruption still probably can happen when uninstalling one browser or the other. Another thing, I never liked using Uninstall programs for uninstalling other programs. I avoid that kind of programs. IMO, they dont know better than the developer of the programs they uninstall so I rather use Windows to uninstall programs. Regarding a corrupted Firefox profile, over the years, I never had a real bad case, only minor stuff. But nothing major.

I wish I saw the same thing. I have completely wiped FF 57 off of my system including programdata, appdata local, appdata roaming, and had to reinstall. Im still seeing the same issue. Its still super laggy. Im getting a 20 second lag just switching to or opening a new blank tab. Mozilla's developers were kind enough to pin it on my laptop not being strong enough to run it (i7 2.8Ghz CPU, 16Gb RAM, 250Gb Samsung 850 NVMe SSD, GTX1070 GPU).

As an experiment you could try FF57 with add-ons disabled; possibly the add-ons caused the problem.

 

It seems like there is nothing which will do what I want with FF 57, as of yet. I'm happy to wait until compatible versions are released. In the meanwhile I'll keep using Cent.

 

The only add-on I miss is FaviconizeTab, which allowed me to shrink tabs for defined domains (like Gmail, Wilders, etc. ...). It seems one can shrink tabs by fiddling with userchrome.css, but not for defined domains.

I'd say that you could trust Waterfox. It was my default browser for nearly a year until I switched back to Maxthon.
