Interesting. I notice that for Windows x64, LibreOffice_5.4.3_Win_x64.msi is now offered by default. Last month, LibreOffice_5.4.2_Win_x86.msi was still offered by default. On Windows x64, what is advised for upgrading LibreOffice x86 to x64? Is it advised to install LibreOffice x64 over an existing x86 installation? After that, will there be redundant x86 files to clean up? Or is it better to first uninstall the x86 installation and after that install the x64 version? If I am not mistaken, the LibreOffice user profile in AppData is not deleted with uninstall, and with the new x64 installation all settings should be applied correctly. To be safe, I will save the LibreOffice user profile before I uninstall the x86 version.

Ouch, that's not good. I hope that won't happen too often. There's no warning al all at the download page, 'Note that this will install x64 over x86, keep your fingers crossed.' Thanks for the warning, blacknight. Later today, or tomorrow, to be safe I'll save the LibreOffice user profile, and then uninstall x86 before installing x64.

Nevertheless, I will save the LibreOffice user profile first, just to be on the safe side, as there's quite a few settings that I personalized.
I still think it would be better if there was a warning at the download page, 'First uninstall the old x86 version, before installing the x64 version.' Uninstalling LibreOffice x86 for Windows and then installing the x64 version worked perfectly. Although, in Custom setup, I had to reapply my custom settings, those for languages, and for online update and quick starter. As mentioned by anon, the LibreOffice user profile in AppData was not deleted with uninstall, and personalized settings were correctly applied. Wow, even the old "History Master" extension by Bernard Marcelly is still there! However, the History Master extension works correctly on one of my Windows 7 systems, in both administrator and standard user accounts, but on my other windows 7 system, the History Master extension throws an error when accessed in the standard user account. Pity. I'll try to find the cause of that. Nevertheless the error when accessing History Master, it still seems to work OK. It keeps 'Recently opened documents' clear, as I like it.
I didn't find the cause of the error when accessing the LibreOffice "History Master" extension in standard user account. But I did find a nice way to fix it. As there was no error accessing the "History Master" extension in the administrator account, I transplanted the administrator account's LibreOffice user profile to the standard user account. That fixed the issue. Great! Perhaps there was some minor corruption in the standard user account's LibreOffice user profile? I don't know, but it was nice to be able to fix it with a simple user profile transplantation.
They still haven't created an feature that allows for automatically putting page numbers at the bottom of the page, have they ? I really like the program, but that's a major downside.

@mood, Thanks. But an option to number all (or most) pages in a document automatically would be very convenient. Not page by page. And placing the location of a page number is another issue.
It does. I had thought, that by now, you had found out for yourself, by doing some web searching and/or looking in the LibreOffice help. Automatic page numbering for a document can be done like this: 1. Insert a footer by choosing Insert > Footer > Default Style from the main menu. 2. Choose Insert > Fields > Page Number. If I'm not mistaken, that should do the trick. If you like to begin page numbering on page 2, that can be done like this: 1. Create a new document. 2. Type or paste text on page 1 and 2. 3. Click somewhere in page 1. 4. Click on the Styles and Formatting icon on the Formatting toolbar. The Styles and Formatting window will open. Click on the Page Styles button at the top of the window. Now double-click the First Page style. This applies the First Page style to your first page. 5. Click somewhere on page 2. 6. Insert a footer by choosing Insert > Footer > Default Style from the main menu. 7. Choose Insert > Fields > Page Number. You now have page numbers starting on page 2 with "2". Maybe easier (no guarantee that it works, i'm still using an outdated version): a) Click on the bottom of the first page, now a blue button "Footer (Default)" (or something similar) and a blue line appears. b) Click on the blue button c) The cursor appears in the footer-area d) Menu: "Insert - Page number" This page and all following pages are automatically numbered.

I had been a long time OpenOffice.org user, since 1.0.0 release. I followed much until near the end of Go-Oo which was the fork which received lots of development and features which was great. I followed initially LibreOffice releases and then stopped using/following for some years. I'm having an issue with 6.0 (and the release candidates leading up) plus all of the 5.x releases. I cannot, for the life of me, get the Personalization (Firefox themes/personas) to work on any of those builds. I searched and found many users complaining about that not working over the years along with some fixes along the way. But I can't get the Personalization (Firefox themes/personas) to work in LibreOffice at all which is unfortunate since I really wanted to customize it more. I don't know if this is specific to LibreOffice on Windows 10 x64 platforms or what exactly. Has anybody managed to get that feature to work? If yes, which version of Windows are you running?

I started the same way, at that time Open Office was all I needed. I tried LibreOffice I find LibreOffice offers a better looking document and a better way to write a letter that is more organized and looks better. Open Office seems to offer less ideas to make the documents better, Open Office seems to have stagnated
