    Hi BoarAnt,
I've emailed Tony and quoted parts of the Wilders posts about the problems that you are experiencing as well as sending him the url of the page and if/when I receive a reply from him I will post here.
If anything else comes to mind later, about the problem you are having, post here.

    Patrick

Well, it is necessary for me to have these kinds of programs running on the PC's. That's why I deigned to do so many tests and I hope I can find the solution. Thanks for the answer.

    Hello Athas,

I tried your test. And also could reproduce the corrupt file problem with different versions of Shadow Defender.
Kept having corrupt or missing files problems when having a session with large files being copied on Shadowed volumes. Even when the folders were excluded.
And also the phenomenon where the files are clean after a reboot.
Problem I had was that I had some files syncing to different computers. But in a 'corrupted' shadow session it would sync and copy broken files to other drives. Or have files 'missing' and deleting it.
I didn't know why this would happen and didn't know Shadow Defender could cause this, but fortunately saw your test on this forum after a bit of googling.
I also suspect it has a bit of 'file overload' when it has to handle extreme large volumes of files. Almost the perfect software, only for this problem.

A temporary solution until it is fixed which I'm trying now would be:
Having a drive unshadowed, so it cannot corrupt, where data has to be going back and forth.
The Windows and software temporary directories being moved to a unshadowed drive. Or there's a chance it will copy from temporary shadowed directories to unshadowed drives with chance of having broken files.

Have you (or somebody else) also tried different solutions?

Am I the only one who does not have any problem with SD v. 1.4.0.665 running Windows 10 x64?
Or I am having just luck with this version?

"A friend was about to flatten his Win7 32bit system (completely different from mine hardware-wise) in order to upgrade to Win10, and I convinced him to install Shadow Defender for a test run first."

It would have never occurred to me to use SD in such a case, I don´t think that´s its purpose. I would have created a backup image.

Won't work. The Win 10 upgrade does several reboots and that would cause Shadow Defender to roll back the system

I just installed windows 10 on a laptop at home, I want to keep the laptop in shadowmode (boot in shadowmode).
The problem is when windows 10 starts updating your machine there is no setting to warn me before it starts to check for updates. Maybe I overlooked the option in the update settings?
What is the best approach to this?
Or just un-shadow on patch-day? (don't know at this time which day that is, I think it is Wednesday) and then back to shadowmode after updates?

You can configure WU to notify when there are updates to download. This can be done in Pro, I don't know about Home. Maybe it's done in Group Policy, don't remember exactly how I did it.

Note that in any case, WU can install some updates automatically at any time, for example security updates.

Um, can we expect SD version update to officially support Fall Creators Update?
    Thanks

I've emailed Tony a few days ago about that and he said he will release a new version soon, to support the newest Windows 10 Fall Creators Update.

I haven´t noticed any problem with Windows 10 1709 and SD 665. The only change is that the reboot must be "forced" because Windows says SD is blocking it. But this is the normal way to manage this.

Hello, I'm new in the forum, sorry if my English is not very good because it's not my native language.
I've been reading the thread for several days and I haven't found an answer to my problem.
I'm using shadow defender in a school with about 500 computers and I'd like to make windows 7 update automatically without having to do it myself one by one.
I had thought about making a script that took out of the shadow mode, updated windows and put it back in shadow mode, all in an unattended way.
Has anyone tried it or is it impossible?
    Thank you very much

@Overkill, I haven't received any replies to my emails to Tony for months and I regularly update him on problems that Wilders members are having. I think, for some reason the mail is not getting through. Maybe the Great Firewall of China. I'm not sure
I read the other day that some other member had a reply from Tony so maybe it's a problem, particular to me.
