*First off - I'm sorry IF this is in the wrong spot - as I've not used the forum for a long time. Do feel free to move the post, if need be.

I have tried to buy Bitdefender numerous times, using 3 browsers (Firefox, Opera, IE), and can make no headway in doing so. IF anyone is a whiz bang with addons in browsers, perhaps you may have ideas on what is wrong and blocking my purchase of Bitdefender.

I use Firefox for everything, overall: it has addons of NoScript, AdBlock Plus, BetterPrivacy.

I also added a few exclusions to Hostsman, mentioned to me by a trusted source, about exclusions that he added due to problems at a few sites.

But still, at the moment, no joy in trying to buy Bitdefender; links just don't take me anywhere on their site in the next step of purchasing that program.

In short: where do I look, for what may be gumming up the works in this situation?

In my attempts to buy the app, I did at one point have Internet Security 2018 trial offer installed (that I want), but later with another effort, I wound up with Total Security 2018 now installed (that I don't want). The trial app appears to function, and it did slap icons in my mail program, and such. It does now and then (at startup time) launch in a grayed out "not responding" status on Taskbar - but then seems to come to life, after a bit. *That last bit is similar problem, seen in mention of another app below...

    * And that reminds me - what happened to Trojan Hunter? It no longer updates, and they don't reply to e-mails. If that company is dead and gone, I presume it best to uninstall that app, would you say?

Thank you, for any ideas on the problem, regarding apparent inability to purchase Bitdefender.

I suspect one of those are interfering with the Bitdefender web site; most likely NoScript. Start with that by adding an exception for the Bitdefender web site. If that doesn't do the trick, do the same for the other two add-ons.

look out for uninstaller/cleaner for TS and Norton ES - you need to get rid of remnants - maybe for BD too (uninstall first) to have a proper cleaned up situation.
of all is ripped you try without 3rd-party security software. if it still causes issue start a new firefox profile and copy needed files.

BetterPrivacy looks to have been discontinued by the developer by the way.

    Dear All,

Thank you, for your notes, and information.

I have found, for 1 thing, that BitDefender wants to remove Spyware Blaster >during install< BUT it will also work just fine AFTER you have installed BitDefender. Odd, but there ya' go. And also, after doodling a bit with Hostsman (and Spyware Blaster - "undo protection for all browsers") - the browsers IE and Opera then did appear to go on to a "ready to buy" status/page at BitDefender, but not so with Firefox. So, yes, it would appear that probably this or that addon (I presume) within Firefox is the culprit.

At worse, I could also get BitDef. program at Amazon or even a local store, and it (I assume) would come with a lic. and such, bypassing "whatever" in Firefox. I in general have not had problems with Firefox when buying things but it has been a while since I'd bought anything online.

Again, thank you all, for your thoughts on this topic. Cheers, --Pat
