Yeah, did the same last last month and I am quite happy with BleachBit. No bloat, just does what is suppose to.:)

@plat1098 Wise Disk Cleaner is safe. Although I already knew it was clean, I just scanned the current installer at Virus Total and every scanner detected it as being clean.

Wise Disk Cleaner is NOT malicious, stop spreading fud.

VirusTotal WDC result - Links removed per TOS
    Jotti's Malware Scan result -

    @Dragon1952
You better take a look at Total Privacy from the same Pointstone Software. It is more like CCleaner program but with more plugins and features.

Thank you for checking this, it was a surprise.

People report detections like mine routinely, but here's someone calling it "fud." Pity.

Glad that you like it. I personally wish they would make an even more basic version without registry cleaner and uninstaller. But I'm still using an older version of CCleaner, it does the job.

I am sticking with CCleaner, at least for the time being. I make daily backups with Macrium and run Windows Defender and Malwarebytes regularly, along with manual EEK
and HitmanPro runs. I just prefer CCleaner and will continue until it messes up again. Guess that's what they call giving them a ""second chance".

@paul & roger - increase knowledge - maybe wise cleaner itself may be safe - but how do you install it? reason it has been blocked, and not only by WD

I've recently tested some alternatives to CCleaner, and I just don't like them.

I have also tested some alternatives and did not like them. Back to CCleaner. I feel it will be fine, as much as anything can these days.

I will stay with it for now.
There's no reason to think it was more than a one time thing. . . . so far.

Neither its installer, or any its exe files in Program Files are detected by any scanners at Virus Total.

I would to if it was not taken over by AVST.
Why does it need a outbound connection (5.31.6105).
Privacy Eraser pro, I like now., for the moment. Most software is going down the drain as far as collecting data from users.
Jump to win 10 no way, just sucks you down that tube of "let it all hang out".
    Got a little carried away.

Well as I've said I am using, but I've realized I do need to pay attention to outbound alerts. The assumption that trusted software should be allowed to connect out is no longer valid. CCleaner taught us that without much damage

+5: not a second chance, but a provisional use in terms of costs and benefits: I always blocked internet connections also to trusted applications, and actually I'm not totally convinced that Wise Care and PrivaZer are more effective; may be using both, but it's annoying.

Indeed, but a slippery slope ... :cautious:.

But Glasswire set to 'Ask to Connect' now.

CCleaner is foremost a browser cleaner, not a system cleaner (without CCEnhancer), so finding a good alternative is not that easy.

Same here, eventhough I use 64-bit version, I recall CCleaner asking to connect, which surprised me, I have checking for updates disabled, but I have ignored it at that time.

    ... always fail!
i am not paranoid but i dont trust any software regarding outbound connections. thats why i am using a sniffer and if connections are not clear or update purpose only i block it. for ccleaner there never was any purpose to let it go outbound.
since injections were possible "trust no software" ;)

Likewise, I never let it connect outbound anyway.

At least this incident has alerted some folks to the importance of keeping a tab on such things.

    Regards Eck:)

I have no need for an outbound connection so I have a rule to block it. Any updates will be posted here. Can update then if I choose to.

Did the same here as I am back with CCleaner Portable. Tried Wise and Bleachbit which are probably good but my preference is CCleaner.
