The main one now is when it doesn't launch. This can happen at any time although it is sporadic. Killing the Vivaldi elements still running in the task manager when Vivaldi has been closed remedies this problem. I can't reproduce the problem at will. I'm running Vivaldi as my default browser again now. I don't know if there is any correlation between the events, but twice when this has happened I've been running a media player (MPC - HC) at the same time.
The only problem with these "Browser Projects", from what I have found is that no matter how good they are, they invariably end in a relatively short time, forcing the user to change browsers again. I'm the type of person who likes to get used to a browser and stick with it.
Me too. Some last longer than others, like Firefox. I have the uneasy feeling though that after FF57, Chrome may be the only 'choice'. Maybe Vivaldi. Haven't really played with it yet.
I don't classify Firefox as a project browser. But, yeah, Firefox 57 could be the turning point for it. They've done their best over the years to alienate users and developers.
What going to happen with FF 57? Edit: Ah! https://www.ghacks.net/2017/04/27/i...eased-today-2274-add-ons-would-be-compatible/
Yes, I think it's going to be a brutally ugly transition for the long term users who decide to stick with Firefox. Making it a Chrome clone has negated the reason for it to exist, unfortunately.
At least it will have its own rendering engine instead of Blink. But I do tend to agree with you, the whole appeal of Firefox was that it wasn't Chrome, I thought.
I had an old 4 series version of Maxthon which has recently finally updated to 5.1.0.4000. It's been hugely improved and the bugs worked out. I used Maxthon as my default browser for many years. It's still the fastest browser I've ever used (we're talking K-Meleon fast) and it has very useful built in features (including ABP) negating the need for additional extensions. Unfortunately, the ability to block third party cookies has been removed. So I doubt it will be my default again for a while. It's a shame, as it would have been virtually perfect IMO.
I'm rapidly running out of interest in 2017 browsers. FF and Chrome seem to get worse with every update and I don't like any others. Cyberfox is running out of time now too.
After using it for quite a lot of time. I would say Edge is favorite. It's fast, stable and dark theme looks very nice. And has decent amount of extensions.
But they refuse to fix security issues: http://blog.talosintelligence.com/2017/09/vulnerability-spotlight-content.html
I'm not worried. And I don't think it would be the first a so called "security issue" is blow out of proportion. Microsoft probably already has mechanism in place to protect the user.
After a few days of Maxthon not collecting any more tracking cookies I've finally reinstated it as my default on Windows. I guess it's now my favourite on Windows. Chrome is my default on Linux.
after about 5 years, Firefox was getting almost unbearable to open and use. I made the switch to chrome and I'm amazed of its speed. Will not look back.
I'm guessing you're using an older machine. On new machines with a SSD, Chrome is only slightly faster, both when it comes to starting up and loading websites.
Still Firefox for me. That may or not not change with version 57. I have a lot of add-ons installed. Many of them are still legacy. I will probably stay with Firefox though.
