For VS not to have a contact person in this forum, there sure is a lot of confusing posting going on. I am dropping VS - not worth the problems -even a Beta or whatever it is now. Know a lot will think this is the wrong attitude, but I'm tired of messing with it.

I agree John, maybe this thread should be closed.

Yeah, OK, I think you're right, you changed my mind. The new beta is a bit more complicated and needs direct input. Hate to say it; I also believe this thread should be closed.

    C:\ProgramData\VoodooShield directory

Is anyone else missing this directory? I know I had it a few months ago but it disappeared and that where the log file is kept. Not sure but this might be used for the new auto logging reports sent to Dan.

Agree with you plat1098. I think if we want to keep VS beta is to go to "the other forum".

AS long as people keep posting in this thread, it will be a spot for those that won't go to MT. I don't know why. You don't have to register to view posts just like here. If however you have a question only Dan can answer, I am afraid you are out of luck.

Let's Stop the Talk About Closing this Thread!

We have hundreds of threads and topics where there are no developers participating, and they go on. We allow Kaspersky threads even though Eugene Kaspersky doesn't post here. Why should this thread be any different? Focus only on VoodooShield software, and let's not take the thread off topic. Thank you!

I think this is what some users are trying to do. Given the situation here, the best advice regarding any technical issues one may have with beta versions of the software or the stable release should be to email Dan directly or use the support link on his website. This thread should continue for general discussion about VS and for users to share tips on how to use it. For anything more technical, it is probably best to use the support channels mentioned.

If I may speak my mind, I suppose that beta versions are very much affected by the number of security apps on users computer, past and present as apps trace are hard to get rid off more often than not.
Since the outcome of VS 4.0 there have been daily adjustments from Dan. Most of the issues I encountered, slow VPN connection, no autostart, heavy CPU reading, no ProgramData Files, are daily solved or definitely improved.
This morning VS autostart works, ProgramData Files are present.

I had to exit and restart VS to fix the high CPU reading though.

What issues are you having with it that makes you want to uninstall VS?

I uninstalled VS 3.59b with Revo Uninstall (removed ProgramData) and installed 4.00b and later 4.01b. I do have the ProgramData/VoodooShield directory.

It contains, amongst other files, a DeveloperLog.log and DeveloperServiceLog.log. Maybe you should clean install again.

I can't see how VS can even work without that folder. That is where all the settings are stored.
I would suggest you disable all other security software before installing VS as you may have a conflict that is preventing that folder from being created.

I disagree. Dumbing down this thread to general discussion only is not IMO the answer.

During several re installations this last few days that I did, once had no that folder at all, once folder was there but empty.
    o_O
I too experienced that cleaner the installation with less security On give the least conflicts.
Unfortunately one size does not fit all, so it goes. Let see tomorrow at restart what is new...

Installed 4.01 yesterday and all went smoothly with the installation, but in use it kept on throwing up pop ups for the same thing. Click Allow and I expected it to remember it but it doesn't. Even queries Explorer which it should surely know about. Got to the stage of wanting shut VS down in frustration, so went back to 3.59 for a more peaceful life.

you gotta create allow rules now since there are less inbuilt ones in VS.

What would be useful is that if the rule create prompt is left at 'Create Rule' VS creates a rule based on the defaults considered safest...that way the rules are created by the lesser experienced user or one who does not want to or have to to create a rule gets the benefit of the VS logic. Just a thought.
