I use TMP for this and since TMP may not be ready for FF57 I'm very happy to hear it can be enabled directly :thumb:

Here's the newest post on the Nightly blog with many bug fixes, enhancements and added APIs. Unfortunately also with some problems regarding Photon :
In my understanding this seems to be only related to Photon and not to the performance improvements from the Quantum project (with Servo, Stylo etc.).

    BS omg Mr Brinkmann
this is what i wrote more than once to regular users - dont stick with features which are gone in final - or always stick with the nightly but get prepped it could get worse. and now this ghacks dork recommends to do this way.

That will be gone for sure in the final version. If you need legacy extensions to work, remain on ESR.

Yesterday FF Nightly switched to v. 58!

For those of you using it, you can try to set gfx.webrender.enabled = true. This is the WebRender compositor in Servo (written in Rust) which aims to replace Gecko's existing compositor. It should provide an additional performance boost.

currently on 57b3 (quantum) and looking good. returning to squared tabs reduces grahpics overload, but in some options they made firefox too slim, pity.

i ever had squared tabs, either before australis and with australis (CTR). even chromium is close to squared tabs. people will have more fuzz with losing extensions

    Hi

Any chance in having a SearX search engine web extension?

    Thanks

I am the opposite. I really really like the square look. I been able to get away from using the Australia/Chrome look thanks to CTR. But now with this new change of look in Firefox and the Bookmark sidebar making a come back, for my personal taste, all things are kind of falling in the right place with the coming of Firefox 57. I like what I see. CTR is going to be gone, because of this changes, I wont miss it. And love the idea of using one lesser extension. As it looks right now, I am going to be using 2 extensions only in 57. To me, that's beautiful.

Interesting stuff, I will soon test the new version, but I first have to upgrade Sandboxie, on older versions it doesn't work. The new FF options interface is looking good. Sadly enough, there is still no tab-based bookmarks manager. It will also be interesting to see which of my extensions are still compatible.
