    Thanks for confirming. :thumb:

Apparently it is still necessary to set the number in about:config if you want to go above "7" (four core CPU with hyperthreading = "8" in my case).

I can confirm the same as mood has stated. I'm going slow and upped the count to 2 (via Options > General) in both Fx stable and Beta to see how the browser performs.

    So far, so good. :thumb:

You can have Adobe Flash Player check for it's own updates.

Try downloading the installer from here (uncheck the optional offer if you don't want it)

    https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

The installer may give you the option to have the flash player update automatically (it does for the Internet Explorer version).

    hi
    good new
have you did a benchmark of firefox 55 ? under ubuntu is amazing fast ,but under windows i haven't found any improvements compared to 54

did somebody notice the same ? 55 seems not faster at cold start or less memory hog compared to 54 under w7,w8 and w10 , now it's consuming 1GB:( and it's the 32bit version

can i go back to 54 ? is enough to download the 32bit installer
    thanks

@mantra I certainly do not have a slowdown with FF 55+. In fact, it feels faster than FF 54.

I have 64 bit, and I do not have multi-process enabled. Because I have quite a lot of add-ons, nearly a quarter of which are not compatible. (I am planning setting up a new slimmer profile with only multi-process / WebExtension add-ons, with imminent FF57 in mind).

Btw My link above was just to alert to the fact that changes made during an upgrade to FF 55 may preclude going back to FF 54, unless you have a backup of your FF 54 profile. Though others have had no apparent issue.

but about ram ? have you noticed an high ram consume?
i have done a search about 54 vs 55 about ram comsume without luck

No need mantra. My Firefox 55.0.2 32-bit is fast, set at a Content Process Limit of 2, and at 8 GB of RAM, my whole system is only using 27% of it at the moment. This is what Task Manager shows, with 3 tabs open:

My Firefox 32 bits is using a lot less RAM than it does for you guys. Perhaps because I use fewer extensions (4) and 0 security programs other than Sandboxie. I disable Multiprocess but the first screen is with Multiprocess enabled and 3 Wilder's tabs.

    And here with Multiprocess disabled.

Not much difference, IMO. Why do you disable multiprocessing?

What you mean not much difference, Firefox is using less than 200MB for me during regular browsing while its using 600MB and more for other users?

Why I disable MP? I try to make things as easy as possible for Sandboxe, to avoid any kind of potential issue, that's the reason why I disable MP.

Has anyone had any problems with dropdown menus in Fx 55.0.2 (x64)?

On Win 7 it seems to take a few seconds for menus to appear.

    fx dropdpwn.jpg
Whereas on Linux (Ubuntu) the dropdowns render straight away.

Although, oddly, they seem faint in this screenshot. They don't when actually looking at the monitor display on Ubuntu.

    I'm guessing bug.:isay:

Daveski, I am not experiencing drop down menus issues. Sounds to me like a conflicting addon or the AV while doing itsr thing. Test using a new Firefox profile. If an addon is causing the issue, it should be easy to figure it out.

Yeah thanks Bo. The AV wouldn't explain the effect on Linux. It's possibly an add on though, I only have seven lol.

Edit: As far as I can tell it isn't an extension.

Yes, I had a problem with a dropdown menu in a financial site some days ago. The menu just didn´t drop down. I was trying to pay a bill, had to use Edge.

    FF 55.0.2, Windows 10 1703.

OK thanks. So it's probably a bug then.

Hi JRViejo , well it's definitively an high ram consume
to have multiprocessing i need to disable all my extension (secure login ,save password editor , password exporter and click and clean) and keep only adguard
    thanks
Hi Bo ,may i know your extension list ? i tried to disable everything but still an high ram consume and i 'm using the 32bit version
i have noticed that firefox start to be a ram hog when i watch sites with images/photos like flickr or other , firefox jump from arond 400mb to 700mb even 800mb
under ubuntu is amazing fast and it consume really less memory, really can't understand why is so optimazed under ubuntu and not under windows

My FF RAM usage has always been high due to my no. of add-ons.
Looking at Task Manager now, RAM usage seems surprisingly lower in FF 55 than before.
Maybe you need to start fresh and create a new profile?
