    Hi Trooper.

Apparently the author of that article forgot to check facts before posting.

Another problem are that there are currently a couple of people (or perhaps it is one guy using different aliases) running around on every forum posting false claims about upcoming Fall Creators Update features not being available on Windows 10 Home and Pro editions, even though Microsoft has clearly said they will be available.

If the author has stumbled across that, then maybe that's why he got confused.

As for the article you linked to - well, on August 9, 2017 Microsoft posted this blog : https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com...eyond-emet-ii-windows-defender-exploit-guard/

    Here Microsoft clearly states :

    Martin,

Thanks very much. A colleague passed that link to me yesterday and I was kind of shocked. Admittedly, I did not fact check and it should have. It was seem crazy to me to have this available solely for Enterprise and Education versions of Windows 10 only. I should have known better on today's day and age to fact check things vs. taking them at face value. Sorry for any confusion this may have caused on the forums here.

    Hi Trooper.

No need for you to feel sorry. You didn't write the article on that site or any of the other. :)

The real problem is that a portion of the tech media sites are trying to make money by having these clickbait stories which lure people in with a shocking headline and then a story filled with incorrect statements leaving their readers confused and scared.

Then you have that small army of people who get paid to post those nonsense threads designed to spread fear on every forum.
There are some of them here on Wilders, but here they are at least contained and easily spottable.
On some of the other forums, it's totally out of control and they are flooding those forums with nonsense.

Best thing you can do is to freeze them out by ignoring them and their agenda.

And then of course, by making sure to spread links to the correct documentation. Luckily Microsoft are great at publishing documentation of their work.
If people read those, then they would have answers instead of worries. :thumb:

Thanks, but it doesn't fully answer my question. You say it's fully automated, so does that mean that WD will never alert the users and let them make any decision? AFAIK, WD does not block malware based on certain suspicious behaviors like process hollowing. It's WD ATP that monitors this type of behavior.

Not for everything in my experience anyway. Which was fine in my case, as it was ransomware.

Yes but so do most other AV's. What I'm talking about, are alerts about suspicious behavior. I did read that you can enable behavioral monitoring in WD on Win 10, but it's not clear what it exactly monitors, and if it will auto-block or alert. I couldn't find any info on the web.

I've been fairly happy using WD on one machine for the last few weeks, but one thing has irked me - when I open my VPN the whole machine came to a standstill and was useless until WD scanned the program. I tried uninstalling VoodooShield, exiting Malwarebytes, uninstalling Windows Firewall Control and finally out of frustration I installed Norton. Now my VPN opens immediately again.

No hate necessary, look at the results. Don't get me wrong: I would prefer a superior Windows Defender as well but in the meantime you get better protection with Bitdefender Free or Kaspersky Free.

Few days back I tried the Windows Defender for a week in a newly installed Windows 10 Pro 64 bit. It was running smoothly, but observed an unique issue. I was running a scan with Avira PC Cleaner and it was a Windows Defender executable which was consuming heavy resources during the scan o_O. Was that because of the active monitoring of Avira scanning progress by WD? Would such problem have resolved If I added Avira PC Cleaner to WD exclusion list? I have since activated my WSA subscription.
