You should get 1703 with the Media Creation Tool.

That's a more recent ISO build than I presently have so it will be worth the download.

    Thank You!

It will be good if the number of rules we can create in a given section (i.e: User-Space) can be extended from 128 to 256 or more.

I have a little question (and actually feel a little stupid). I've used AG for a long time but haven't made any settings changes in years. As a result, I've forgotten how to do things.

I've just started using an online Large File Transfer Service that requires me to open my 'My Documents' folder in order to select files to upload and transfer. Problem is AG won't grant me access to that folder. If I exit AG or put it in Install mode that works, but I don't really want to do that. So what do I do??

expected since the folder is in User-Space, so:
1- Does the service apps is guarded? if yes, go to Customize > Guarded Apps > Settings > add the folder as exception.

    or

2- add the folder to User-Space - NO.

let me know, if it works.

I think the problem you are experiencing may be caused by Privacy Mode . When I access My Documents through a web browser, or any Guarded Application with Privacy Mode enabled AG blocks access to all of My Documents. The only Private Folder I have is the default folder which is a subfolder in My Documents. I'm not trying to access my Private Folder, and it blocks access to all of My Documents so I think this may be a bug. The desktop is part of the user-space also, yet I can upload, and download files to the desktop without any problems. That is the behavior I am seeing anyway.

If you are having the same problem then you can go to the Guarded Apps Tab, and click on Settings below the list of Guarded Apps. Then delete the folder called, "myprivatefolder" from the list, and click ok. Your second option is to disable Privacy Mode for the application you are using to upload, and download files on the Guarded Apps list. If you are Guarding it then find it on the Guarded Apps List, and disable Privacy Mode for it. I tried both options on my machine, and it worked just fine to remedy the issue.

So the max limit is 128 on every section, really? lol
    Never tried or tested before.

How about Guarded Apps > Folders section?

@Cutting_Edgetech Just disable the pop-up. When a person accesses the Documents folder, AppGuard detects the read of the MyPrivateFolder and that triggers the alerts. AppGuard's protections are "sensitive." Disabling the pop-up still allows the Windows alert to appear - and the Windows alert is all that is needed.

yes lol, i tighten my system by by adding tons of new rules in AG, and couldn't do more than 128.
no idea, i dont have 128 programs or folders to restrict :p

When I say I haven't tried, I mean to say I haven't created or configured so many folders to pass them to system space or folders to restrict. Of course I have tried those features, moreover I use them on a daily basis.

Curiously, what I use more is the Folders feature. I rather set them up to Exception (write/read) and guard the main or secondary exes instead of setting folders into system space (User Space, include: no), the latter is my last resort when anything else fails. I guess this config is more secure unless I'm wrong.

@Mister X What i'm doing is different, i block execution of exe in specific folders (by adding the folders/exe in User-Space-YES) , what you detailed above is about privacy (you block Guarded Apps to access these folders).

I got you but guess you didn't me, hahaha. Let's start again cause I know it's my fault, I didn't explain myself properly.

First off, I change my apps installation policy: only portable apps are in my system as much as possible.
Obviously there are some apps like M$ Office which has/must be installed.

Second, for portables I utilize a dedicated partition to run them. This partition is considered by Windows and AG as User Space, as expected.

Third, every portable app and components (exes, sub-folders, etc) are in their on root main folder. Such folder I use to set it as Exception (Read/Write) guarding their respective/needed exes which allows me to successfully run the portable.

Fourth, if the portable not works properly like in the third point above, then I dismiss this third point and I set such root/main folder to User-Space (Include: No). Then the portable app runs properly without guarding it or maybe guarding it, it depends.

I'm not sure you understood my post. I was pointing out that TomAZ's problem may be due to the Privacy Mode Protection, and his problem may not have anything to do with My Documents folder being part of the user-space. Disabling the Popup will not keep AG from blocking his uploads, and downloads.

Also, I was reporting a possible bug. The popup, and blockage occurs without accessing my Private Folder. TomAZ sounds like he may be having the same problem. This needs to be looked into further.

Interesting there. Along this line if I place, say,

    C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner64.exe

in User-Space-YES, then executing CCleaner.exe will be blocked? Is that analogy correct? Or do I need to set it in Guarded Apps (all "ON")..?

    Thank you!

Yeah I see, $59.95 for Personal now. Must be new pricing policy due to acquisition.

While v4.4.6.1 is OK no problem, but may pass after that and investigate other SRP solutions, unfortunately. Bit steep for a home product, especially at my exchange rate. :cautious:

I'm using AppGuard since many years, now I have the last lifetime version. Some days ago I made a clean reinstall of my system, but AG's icons on the desktop and in the tray bar don't work. So I wanted to uninstall and reinstall AG, but it's impossible: it doesn't appear in Panel Control, Programs and Features , no uninstaller in C, nothing anywhere, neither rebooting in Safe Mode.

@blackknight Did you uninstall appguard from your pc before! you did a clean install? If no my guess would be write their support and ask for a reactivation or so.
Before doing any clean pc install better uninstall all software thats not shipped with windows (and has separate keys)

Wonder why @Lockdown is not actively/stopped replying here since August 9 when he did his last post. I say him replying at Malwaretips even yesterday. :cautious:

I formatted my pc and I reinstalled the OS and then AppGuard; AG works, the license works, I have only problems with his icons. But the problem is that if I wanted to uninstall AG now, I can't for the reason I said in my previous post.
@Mister X: I think that Lockdown is on vacation. :(
