I thought Creators Update through regular Windows Update was in September.

Got it today -- I got tired of the "Check Your Privacy Settings" nag screen so I opened it, made no changes, clicked OK/Accept and Win 1073 Update started. Took about 1hr,15min.

So far all seems to be ok.

FWIW, I installed the Monthly Rollup (KB4025341) and the Malicious Software Removal Tool on two 7x64 machines with no ill-effects so far. I had to once again hide KB2952664 (unbelievable how that keeps coming back), and I installed a bunch of Office Security Updates, while disallowing KB3203467.

Yup. Buggy software can get pushed out quickly with a CSC release.

Never happens on the LTSC release.

Cumulative Update KB4032188 is actually available, and I have updated successfully one machine but on my second machine with CU it failed and cycled back to its original pre-update state. It worked on my second attempt just now, so no problems. For the record this update produced 2.7 GB of backup files on both machines which I'm deleting with Disk Cleanup...
The new build is now 15063.502

I've just received that here too after manually checking for updates.

I have a Teclast Tbook 16 Power which dual-boots Android 6.0 and Windows 10. I mostly use it casually with Android, and rarely switch to Windows (mostly for updates before imaging).

Problem is, I get failed Windows Updates and have to resolve them manually sometimes. Today I noticed that KB4032188 is being offered, but as soon as I check the Update History, I see 4 failed instances of KB4020102 today as well...

Why didn't I get that update when I checked last month twice and got KB4022725 & KB4025342? See screenshot for more details. Now that I'm installing KB4032188 as well, do I even need that update?

Do you have to use Windows regularly to ensure updates go through properly? Thanks.

I was referring to KB4020102. I could've written it better, but please see screenshot.

I see now, J L. I don't believe you need it as KB4032188 puts your computer up to build 15063.502.

It is not easy to stop Win 10 to update automatically. Reading the article I can believe lots of people had problems, but personally I've never experienced anything untoward with normal updates except for major upgrades. Still I wish MS would gives us the option to turn off Windows Updates when necessary. On the other hand 'wannacry' has been so effective because a lot of users did not bother to patch their systems in a timely fashion.

I have not had that many issues of late. Now with Windows 7 that is another story. At work, most of us in IT and a few select users are in my Tier 1 group for WSUS updates. If all is well with us after a week or so then we approve updates for everyone else Tier 2 group. Unless of course there is a big patch for ransomware a la Wannacry but we were not effected by that since our machines were already up to date.

At home, I always patch on patch Tuesday. I have backups if something goes south.

Osaban, don't know if it would help (I'm running W7 64-bit), yet this was part of the article I posted:

Last month I tested setting WIFI to Metered connection for 4 days to test the behavior of WU, it worked. Windows updates did not check for updates of any kind during those 4 days. At the time I still had not turned Windows defender off completely and WD did not get updated during those 4 days.

I am in W10 Home, at the time I was using the Anniversary version. With that version, W10 Home did not have the setting to set the LAN connection to Metered, you could only do it using WIFI. But now it does with Creators update. I upgraded to Creators and my better senses tell me to set my LAN as Metered before turning the laptop off or use WIFI for the next few days and see what happens. This is what I had planned but I haven't made my mind yet. So far, all my W10 updates and upgrades have worked out pretty good.

Despite what I wrote, I wouldn't be surprised if I set the connection to metered and tomorrow when I turn the laptop on, it updates automatically. I think I read somewhere that if updates are security only, the updates override Metered. I think using metered WIFI instead of Metered LAN gives better chances of not getting the updates automatically as MS assumes you are not at home, and paying extra money for the bandwidth or you are under a CAP.

JRViejo, I appreciate your suggestion, but for some reasons after changing my connection to WiFi, the option in properties to set it to metered connection is grayed out... As for the Ethernet connection I would rather not modify the registry.

So far I had no problems, if I do encounter one than I would probably do the registry tweak. I have also noticed that MS has been slack for Vista, Win 7, and Win 8.1, possibly in a disguised attempt to lure people into upgrading to Win 10... In my experience buggy updates in Win 10 have been quickly fixed as there is too much at stake in terms of their image and reputation...

Osaban, you can do it Via Settings>Network & Internet>Ethernet, Once there, Click on your connection, that ll bring you to the Window where you toggle the switch of the 2nd setting from the top down to Enable Metered connection.
